«Nightmare»

🌿Ivy🌿

I fly over the battlefield looking at the wreckage that used to be my home. I'm suddenly knocked off Nightwing. She roars and tries to catch me but I'm already hitting the ground.

The breath left my lungs and I choke. I force myself to stand up but someone hit me, causing me to fall back down. A face appeares above me, sneering. I roll over and try to run or at least crawl but he drags me backward.

"Oh no, you don't." He says cackling, I cringe and fight like crazy to get away. He withdrew a dagger and slashes me across the face. I wince as blood drips down my cheek.

I freeze when I feel his hand on my bare skin, I'm fearing what he's going to do when an arrow comes out of no where and embeds itself into his throat. Blood splatters on my face and I scream.

I jerk upright, still screaming, tears streaming down my face. "Ivy!" Hiccup races into the room and sits down behind me wrapping his arms around me, holding me close. I couldn't stop my tears, as I relive what happened during those two years of war.

"You're okay," He whispers and I lean back resting my head against his collarbone. I stay in his arms shivering in terror. I feel Hiccup's warm breath against my ear as he whispers soothing things.

I curl up, shoving all my fears and pain to the back of my mind, until I started to doze in Hiccup's arms.

♠️Hiccup♠️

I hold her close to me, my heart breaking as she whimpers in terror. Two years of war had practically broken this girl, she seems strong physically but mentally she's still that young girl I found in the cove.

I listen to her slow breathing, she'd fallen back asleep. I slowly lean back against the pillows, bringing Ivy with me. "Hiccup?" She whispers to me and I jump, startled.

I guess she wasn't asleep. "What is it?"

"I- during the war you were the only thing keeping me going. The promise of seeing you again, it helped." I feel that feeling again, that feeling that something's breaking.

I ignore it and turn my attention back to Ivy who's now staring up at me. I look into her emerald eyes with fondness. "You have no idea how much I missed you, and counted the days until I saw you again."

Ivy smiles and closes her eyes. I did the same and rest my head against hers, fading into sleep.

My eyes flutter open and I stare around, not quite sure where I am. Then fragments of my memory came floating back. "Hiccup?" I call looking around the room.

"Yes?" I look up and find Hiccup in the doorway. I sigh, rubbing my eyes. "I was wondering where you were." Hiccup gives me a knowing smile and I duck my head.

"I'm not going anywhere." He walks up to me and gently pulls me off the bed. "Come downstairs, Astrid made breakfast." My stomach growls and Hiccup laughs.

We go downstairs where the other Dragon Riders are seated. They look up at me with smiles and wave. "How'd you sleep last night?"

". . .I slept well, thanks Fishlegs." Hiccup leads me to a seat and then sits down beside me. I lean against him as Astrid and Fishlegs start putting the food on plates. Fishlegs sets mine and Hiccup's in front of us. I eat silently, not feeling like talking.

"So, Ivy, how's Dagur?" Fishlegs asks and Hiccup kicks him under the table. "Ow!" I look at Hiccup as he glares at Fishlegs. I ignore it and answer Fishlegs' question. "Last time I saw my brother was three years ago when he was being shipped off to Outcast Island to serve out his sentence."

I look sadly down at my plate, pushing my eggs around with my fork. Hiccup grabs my hand under the table, squeezing in reassurance. My only reaction is squeezing back.

"Fishlegs, can we talk... in private?" Hiccup asks letting go of my hand and getting up. Well it seems to be more an order than a request. I thought watching as Fishlegs gets up and follows him.

I grumble angrily as Fishlegs follows me outside the hut. I turn back to him with a huff. "What's wrong with you?"

"What? I was just probing, seeing if she knew about Dagur."

"What that her brother has gone back to his wicked ways? The one person she loves besides her father that is just going to disappoint her. If she finds out the truth about Dagur, it will break her heart."

Fishlegs looks slightly ashamed and I sigh. "Fishlegs, she's been through hell these past two years, she woke up screaming last night. I'm afraid what might happen to her when she finds out that Dagur's gone bad again."

"If she's anything like you, she'll get through it. She's strong." He says patting my shoulder, I give a weak smile as Fishlegs heads back inside my hut. I sigh staring out at the sea.

Suddenly a hand grips mine. I jump before turning my head to the left. My green eyes meet Ivy's, she's staring up at me. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Ivy scoffs but doesn't say anything. Instead she leans against me, resting her head against my collarbone. I smile and pull away keeping my hand in hers. "Come on, it's time for your tour." She smiles before following me.

I show Ivy all over Dragon's Edge. By the time we're done the sun has set and the moon is rising. "Ivy, come with me." I say grabbing her hand and pulling her along. "Where are we going?"

I smile, "just wait and see." She smiles and followes me. Before we get there I have her close her eyes. After coaxing her for a few minutes she finally listens. I lead her along and tell her to open her eyes.

She gasps as she laid her eyes on the Nightshade flowers. The ones she showed me on Berk. They bloom only at night and glow a beautiful purple. Tears fell from her eyes, I almost panic then I see her smile.

"Oh, Hiccup. . .Nightshades."

"Yeah, when we left Berk, I brought these and planted them here, hoping they would flourish. And they did, I wanted to bring a little of you with me." She turns looking up at me

She hugs me, crying happily into my chest. I wrap my arms around her, holding her.
