LENA POV
"So is she like your girlfriend?" Callie asked suspiciously as we were setting up dinner and dessert for Stef and Frankie. It had been a few days since we had confessed our feelings and made love back in the cellar which I could not get out of my brain. The way she touched me, made me scream her name more than once and the way she licked me and made me cum. Since that day we had been texting like crazy almost like teenagers who had fallen in love for the first time and couldn't get enough of each other. We really couldn't if we were honest and it was impossible finding time alone. Stef spent most of her days with Frankie and I spent most of mine at the store with Callie and my mother. With Christmas a few short days away and the upcoming party I was even more busy. Her texts ,however, kept me laughing, sane, and sometimes horny for it was no secret that Stef could be a such a devil at times and always had been. The difference now was I was being a devil back and acting on many of the things I wrote back to her. To be honest Stef and I weren't too sure what our next steps would be for we both had kids to consider and wanted to take things slowly. Did I want to be her girlfriend yes but there were many elements up in the air including whether she was going to back to LA or not. Regardless, I decided to invite her and Frankie over to help trim the tree and with my parents out it was the perfect night.
"Yes Stef is my friend honey."
"Ok but is she your girlfriend now?"
"No honey she is not. But we talked about things and are just taking our friendship slow."
"Ok but is she moving back here or what? Are you going to date?" she asked placing the scalloped potatoes in a Christmas pan.
"Sweetheart listen take it down a noche? Ok honey? I want you to relax some you don't have to protect me. Honest. Stef is not going to hurt me and we had a long conversation. Ok? Sometimes life is not always 1,2,3. She has had things happen and I have as well. Ok? So how about we enjoy tonight and you give her a chance?" I said gently resting my hand on her shoulder as her stubborn eyes looked into mine hesitantly. "Please honey?"
"Ok mama."
"And if things change you will be the first to know. I would never bring anyone into your life that I didn't think was a good person. I wouldn't honey. Trust me babe ok?"
"I trust you. I just don't trust her. I don't trust that she won't take off and hurt you again."
"I understand baby. I do. But I have always taught you about forgiveness and giving people who are worth it a second chance. Right?"
"Yes."
"Ok. So maybe you can try just a tiny bit. You don't have to love her I'm not asking you for that. Just maybe can you try to be a little nicer. Maybe ya'll end up being best friends."
"Yeah no ma. "
"You never know. You both are stubborn that's for sure." I said kissing her forehead and hearing the doorbell ring. "Let me get that and finish setting up the table for me ok?"
"Ok." Kissing her forehead once again I headed to the door feeling a tad nervous. Nervous I wasn't sure why as I adjusted my skirt and blouse opening the door. My eyes instantly looked into hers, those beautiful hazel ones that had mesmerized me since I was a kid as a wide smile formed on our faces. Even in her jeans and plaid shirt she looked beautiful and she never ever needed to dress up for me. Ever.
"Hi Lena!" Little Frankie said holding a tray of something as her smile widened and I just couldn't get over how cute she was.
"Hi sweetheart. It's nice seeing you. What do you have there?"
"I made gingerbread and sugar cookies with mama for you and Callie. We can eat them while we decorate the tree."
"Oh well isn't that just too sweet of you dollface. WHy don't you guys come in."
"Ok!" She said as I stood aside to let her in along with Stef who had been staring at me and my body the entire time. I could only blush as I felt her grab my hand and wink at me.
"Hey." She whispered.
"Hi. Thanks for coming."
"Thanks for inviting us baby." Pulling my hand up to her mouth she softly kissed it causing my brain to go crazy.
Dinner had been nice with the four of us as Frankie proved not to be so shy talking our heads off about any and anything. Callie herself chimed in a few times and I could see she was really trying to make an effort and let the grudge go hopefully. A couple times she asked Stef a few questions about LA and had been pretty polite and I was hoping it would stay that way. It was nice to be with Stef and in her company as grown women who still remained so much in love. Where we would go from here we just weren't sure.
"Maybe we can start trimming the tree during the movie. Frankie was so sweet to make these cookie Stef." I said to her as she was helping me wash up some of the dishes from dinner while the girls picked out a movie.
"She was excited to come over. She likes you Lena."
"I like her too. Callie will..
"It's ok love. I understand and she doesn't have to love me babe which I don't expect her too. She's a teeanger for one and she loves her mama. I can't blame her for that one because I love her mama too." She grinned at me and I couldn't help but blush feeling her grab my hand again. Moving closer to me she looked so deep in my eyes and I could only hope she would kiss me again.
"Mama we are out of firewood so I'll get some from outback."
Suddenly hearing Callie we pulled away as she looked at us rather uncomfortably.
"Um sure honey. Do you need some help?"
"No I'm ok." Watching her walk off Stef glanced to me.
"Do you mind if I go talk to her? I mean I'd like too if you don't mind."
"Um no. Not at all."
"Ok." Leaning in she kissed my cheek and headed off behind my daughter as little Frankie came into the kitchen.
"Where did my mama go?"
"Oh just to get more firewood with Callie. Gets chilly in here right?"
"Yeah."
" But we can start setting up your cookies which look really tasty. Want to help me?"
"Sure. Um Lena?"
"Yes honey?"
"Why doesn't Callie like my mama?"
"Oh honey who said Callie didn't like your mama? MM?" I asked as she looked to me with sad eyes.
"No one. But I can tell. Is it because she's gay?"
With that question my eyes widened and I wasn't sure what the heck to say.
"Of course not sweetheart. No. Not at all. Callie just she is shy around new people and adults. So sometimes it takes her a little longer to get comfortable. But she will come around. Ok?"
"Ok."
"Did you guys pick out a movie baby?"
"Yes. The Santa Clause."
"Really that happens to be my favorite one too."
"Really! Cool. I've seen it a 100 times."
"Well let's make this 101 times." Hugging her warmly the two of us walked back to the couch however I couldn't help but notice her continue to look back at the door waiting for her mother. She was one smart kid and very much like Stef. Protective but sweet and she was one little girl I'd love to have in my life. Maybe Stef would stay just maybe and we could become the family we had both dreamed about.
