"It's ok baby it's ok I want you to calm down. Just breath. " Lena said to the blonde as she could see Stef was  hysterical and a complete mess after finding a note from Frankie saying she needed to leave. The slim woman had never seen the cop break down like this ever, no one had really, but it was understandable for Frankie was her little girl and her entire life.  Stef was known for handling many cases like this on the job and was trained to remain calm but this was her kid, this was Frankie and this was different. It always had been and always would be.

FLASHBACK

"Ok sweetpea. Ok babygirl it's alright no tears my girl. No tears mama is new at this and she's trying." Stef said holding the little infant close to her chest and kissing her soft little head as Frankie cried her eyes out. The blonde had just given birth only a week ago and thankfully she had some help from her friend Jenna but she had to admit she was nervous. Lord was she nervous for she was guessing at  everything and just winging the entire thing even down to changing the little girl. As she was juggling with heating up that bottle her little girl was still crying her eyes out as Stef began to slowly rock her.

"Ssh sweetpea, it's ok babygirl. It's ok. Mama is coming with your food and it will be all good. I promise. Look I think it's really my little love. It's ready." Soothing her baby thankfully the bottle was at the correct temperature as she sat in the nursery rocking chair holding Frankie close as she happily sucked from the bottle.

"Now there you go. Mm? Aww that's better now."  Softly kissing her tiny head Stef couldn't help but smile at the little girl even if she was exhausted. She was the most exhausted she had ever been in her life but it didn't matter. The way Frankie looked at her with her big hazel eyes that were so much like hers and with her little curly hair it could only make her heart feel like it was filled. It was so filled and she would do anything and everything for this little girl. She would treat her like the princess she was, she would take care of her like she never took care of anyone else in her life and she would always protect her no matter what the consequences. Maybe her father didn't want her, and that was ok but Stef did and she didn't need him in their lives.  Not at all and she was positive Frankie would most likely ask one day about him as she got older and Stef would somehow have to tell her in a way that would not crush her heart.  How that was possible she wasn't sure but she would do it no matter what.

Stef would also prove to her that she was there for her, that she would be both mother and father never giving up on her ever. Of course she had never  planned on being a mother or if she did she didn't think it would happen this way. But it had and it was the biggest and best surprise she could ask for as she looked into her little girl's eyes again milk coming from her mouth.

"Oh now you eat too fast baby. Look how fast you eat. Let's see if mama can try to figure out how to burp you. MM?" Holding the baby close she gently lifted her up and placed her over her shoulder patting her back. Before she knew it Frankie let out a giant burp and all Stef could do was laugh.

"Well there aren't we related." hearing the baby coo and laugh a bit for Stef wasn't even sure if newborns were capable of that Frankie looked into her eyes continuing to coo even more at her. Stef laughed herself and kissed her sweet cheeks over and over.

"Aww my little princess my sweet little princess of mine, I love you so much, I love you more then you will ever, ever know and mama will always be there for you. Always. Now I may mess up sometimes and no know what I'm doing but I will try. I will always try and I will never let anything happen to  you. Softly kissing her baby's head again she rocked her to sleep as both passed out within minutes.

That was the way their life went. Frankie had proven to be an easy little baby and girl to take care of and the bond the two formed was unmatchable.

FLASHBACK ENDS

Stef felt sick to her stomach as Lena and her drove around looking for the little girl, Callie drove off on her own with Mike, Lena's parents were looking as well as Stef's.  They searched every section of town, of their home, of any place Frankie may have ran off too and Mike had called in the cops to look around as well. But an hour had gone by then two hours and their was still no site of Frankie. None and the blonde was heartbroken and beside herself.

"Stef we will find her. We will find her baby I promise." Lena said gently resting her hand on the cops shoulder as the two sat in car.

"Lena that little girl is my life. She is and I don't know what I would do without her. I'm trying so hard and I have always tried. But maybe I failed, maybe I did...and my little baby ran off. She ran off and she's only 8." With tears falling from her eyes Lena turned her body around and pushed Stef's face to look right in hers.

"No, no baby. You did not. You did not at all and Frankie will be ok and we will find her. I promise you. You are a wonderful mother, and she loves you she loves you so much and I don't think she went far. You didn't raise a dumb kid baby."

"I know but why did she run? Was she scared? DId someone say something to her. I just, she's never done anything like this. Ever."

"We will find out sweetheart when we find her and we will. The entire town is looking for her so don't you dare worry. Don't you dare and don't you ever doubt yourself as a mother. Ever baby because no one loves that little girl as much as you and she knows it." Gently rubbing her cheek Lena wiped the tears from the cops eyes as the two got out the truck walking up and down the town calling Frankie's name.

However as everyone was out searching Frank Foster happened to head back home in search of his granddaughter again. It was a hunch he had for Stef had ran off a few times when she was little hiding in the barn when she thought everyone had left. Walking quietly back in the barn and heading up the ladder  there lay Frankie nestled in the corner just as he suspected fast asleep.
