"Hey Betts, wake up sleepyhead" Jug said gently shaking Betty awake. "Hmm?" Betty grumbled in response. "We're here! Come on Archie and Veronica are already inside". Betty got out the car following Jughed into the house. "Hey sleeping beauty" Veronica giggled at Betty. "Your bedrooms are down that hall" Archie pointed. The cottage was quite spacious with a big window in the living room with a view of the beach and a kitchen attached with a dining table and a big sofa and tv. Betty and jughead turned to the hallway and found their room. It also had a big window and it has a double bed in the middle, white to match the walls with a dresser and wardrobe in the corner. They were all going to share a bathroom which was at the end of the hall. Betty flopped onto the bed as soon as she stepped foot in the room. Jughead turned around and laughed at the sight of her. "Betts you've just slept for 3 hours how are you still tired?" He asked kneeling next to her on the bed. "I'm not it's just this is really comfy" she giggled. "Okay come on you, change into some comfy clothes because your jeans look uncomfortable" jughead said pointing at her legs. Jughead was already in his sweats. Jug left to get food in the kitchen and Betty started unpacking their clothed. She put a pink vest top on and Grey cotton shorts. She sat at the vanity and took off all her makeup and let down her ponytail. Grabbing her phone she went back to the living room to find her friends, they were all on the sofa watching tv when she walked in, Archie turned it off when Betty walked straight past them onto the kitchen. "You Okay Betty? Feeling better?" Archie said. "I'm fine" she replied with no emotion. All three of them looked at her curiously, she had been so excited for this trip what had changed?. What had changed? It started the day before the trip, Betty was getting changed after the final cheer practice when she heard Cheryl and her minions talking about her. "She's so ugly" one had said. "Yeah and did you see how tight her cheer outfit was today?" Another chipped in. "Maybe jughead likes bigger girls?" "Jughead will soon get sick of her, just like my dear brother did with her crazy sister, that family has too much baggage for anyone to love them" Cheryl finished and they all left the locker room leaving Betty in tears. The day continued with Betty not talking and everyone else wondering what was wrong with her. At dinner they were all sat around the dining table they were having pasta. They all dug in joking and laughing, accept of course Betty who just sat in silence stabbing her food with her fork. "Betts? Are you not hungry? This is your favourite!" Jughead said nudging her encouragingly. Betty was so hungry, but then she remembered what them girls had said about her and her weight. She looked up at her boyfriend who was staring at her and then she looked at her friends who had also stopped eating to look at her. "Erm.. I.. excuse me" Betty mumbled running out the back door, towards the beach. "Okay what's up with her?" Jughead asked. "I don't know dude she seemed fine yesterday" Archie replied. "Wait I think I know what this is about" Veronica said, the two boys raised an eyebrow as if to tell her to continue. "I heard a rumour after cheer practice that some girls were talking about Betty". "Talking about her how ?" Archie said, the protectiveness over his best friend coming out. "I don't know but I heard it was pretty brutal I was going to talk to her but I didn't want to upset her, but now I keep seeing her pulling at her clothes and prodding her stomach so I think they said something about her weight!" Veronica said. "Oh no..." Archie said in response. "What?" Both jughead and Veronica said in unison. "Remember last year Jug? When she didn't make the cheer team because Cheryl said she was too fat? Well she fell into depression and stopped eating what if it's like that again?" Archie said looking scared for his best friend. "Shit!" Jug whispered under his breath. They all turned to Betty who was sat on a wall near the beach. They left her for a while to have some space and they sat talking in the living room. It was starting to get dark when the door opened and in stepped Betty with tear stains down her cheeks. "Hey guys" she whispered as she grabbed some water from the fridge. "Hey" "hi b!" "Hey Betts you okay?". She sat down next to Jug and just simply nodded. "I'm sorry about how I've acted today" she whispered. "It's okay b, but is there something bothering you?" Veronica asked reaching to grab Betty's hand. Betty just looked up and sighed. " I'm just letting some stupid people get to me I'll be fine" she said. " is this about what happened after cheerleading?" Veronica asked. "You all know?" She looked up at her friends. "Yeah we know" Archie said. Betty sank lower into the sofa wishing it would swallow her. "Betts we love you, your beautiful and kind and you don't have to change okay?" Jughead said. Later that night after they were all in bed, Betty turned to jughead and kissed him passionately. "What was that for?" Jughead grinned at her. "I was insecure about myself and I thought you'd stop loving me but I was wrong and I love you, thank you!" She said letting a tear slip. "Hey" he said wiping the tear away. "Don't ever doubt yourself ever! I love you and your drop dead gorgeous okay? I won't ever stop loving you!" He replied as she snuggled up to him and they fell into a deep sleep.
