Perhaps the hardest thing
I have ever done
Is watch the one I was closest to
Meet the other important person in my life
And watch as they become tightly bonded
Incidentally
Leaving me behind
They met because of me
And all I can do is blame myself
Now I sit and realize
I have become a second choice
Even to my best friends
Because they are now each other's
Number one place holders
I have forgotten so much
What 1st place gold tastes like
That I have convinced myself
bittersweet silver is what I deserve.
