|CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX|
"Who said I love you?"
Tears streamed excessively down both of my cheeks. "I thought. - You said you will always love me. Forever." I placed my hand on his cheek which he harshly swept it away.
"That was before Emily. Before you broke our promise by leaving me as a wreck!" exclaimed Brandon. Anger and hatred filled his eyes.
I tried to cradle his face in my hands, but he quickly swatted it away. "Don't touch me!"
"Brandon. Let me explain what happen six years ago....-"
"You have nothing to explain. I don't need your explanation. I am now happy with Stacey, so leave me - no, us - alone!" said Brandon as he turned on his heel and walked back towards the house.
I grabbed his arm and pulled him back towards me. I hugged him tightly like I would never want him to leave.
"Brandon. Please stay. I never broke your promise. I am here now. I did leave you before, but here I am now. I never meant to leave you. You know that I had amnesia before? That is why I couldn't remember you or anyone else back when I first saw you guys after the accident. Plus, Sean banned me from seeing you since he says you are 'dangerous'. Please Brandon. I am here now. Please don't leave me. Love me! Not Stacey!" I said as I cried on his shirt.
He placed his hands on my arms and pried me away from him. He intensely stared into my eyes and said, "Leave me and Stacey alone. We are now happy. I don't need you anymore. I don't love you anymore."
He pushed me to the ground. I stared at him as he turned around and walked away. What he doesn't know is that I wouldn't give up. So, I jumped onto my feet and ran towards him, wrapping my arms around his waist.
"Brandon. Why don't you love me? Stop lying! I know you love me. You still love me. You said so. You said forever," I said with my head resting on his back. Brandon tuned around and gazed into my eyes.
"I guess you don't get it, huh? So let me start explaining how I feel, alright?" He said as he unwrapped my arms from his waist. I nodded and he sighed.
"You left before I could fully explain what happen between Stacey and I that day at the tree before you disappeared. When I was running after you, I stopped and saw the ground. A faint color of blood was visible. I couldn't help but think of pessimistic thoughts. Well, guess what? Your mother called my mother saying that you died! You left me by dying!
I never wanted to believe what they said. So, I did some search on my own to see if you are really alive. Remember that day when I was at that hospital? Yeah, I was going to ask about your death records. Well, guess who I ran up to? You. You were there. You were there with Sean. Again, you left me. You left me with Sean.
I tried finding you again the later days. I then gave up after your mother saw that letter. The letter saying that you were now gone for good. You now had a new life with Sean. I thought you forgot about me. I thought you left me for good. I thought you don't love me anymore. That was when you broke two promises: Never leaving me, and loving only me forever.
I was numb for months. Gladly, Stacey was there to comfort me. After a few more weeks, I was healed. My heart was healed. There, I started loving Stacey for reals. I realized that at least she wouldn't leave me. She proved it also by never giving up on loving me after pushing her away when I was with you. I found my happiness with her. My love for you has faded. I am now in love with Stacey. Please, can you just accept that? Please, can you leave us to be happy together?"
My heart ached knowing he doesn't love me anymore. He doesn't love me, only Stacey. I broke his heart. In return, he broke mine.
More tears escaped.
