Monsters Within [Poetry Contest]

A monster lies within us all
cloaked beneath our veils of morality.
Our conscience and righteousness
the embracing wall
pinning it from leaping into reality.

The monster within feeds
on the weak and the feeble
in times tough and dark
when we're most vulnerable.

Enslaving the mind
mesmerizing with evil tricks
It derails rational judgement,
callously trampling over ethics

To dominate over, our monsters within
isn't life tumultuous, in a perpetual war
as even tiny glimpses, of it sometimes
can yield for life, an ugly scar.
