Cole pov

We stepped out of the hotel and landed in a cold place. The whole group, except for Mallory so I was leading, was there. We looked around at the huge mountains around us. I looked up at the sky and saw the sky covered in a blanket of gray.

"We're in Jotunheim approaching the border of Niflheim" I said.

They looked at me in amazement. "How'd you do that?" Ray asked. Ray was holding Jessica's hand tight. Ray kept looking around like she expected the giant from Jack and the beanstalk to appear and eat us.

"There's a sign." I pointed to the sign.

                              Jotunheim          Niflheim
                                 <===                      ===>
                             50 Miles.               Twenty Miles.

"Oh." Jessica said. Ray facepalmed. I laughed. I noticed Magnus, Alex, Tj, Yvette, Josh, and Nemexa asleep. I sighed.

"Let's hit the hay guy--i mean girls!" I said. They laughed at me. We took our supplies and set up camp.

At night I couldn't sleep. I lay there on my back looking at the sky. I decided to mess with some lightning. I raised my hand and moved it in a circle. A circle of lightning followed my hand as it moved through the cold night air. I closed my eyes and let my feelings guide me. After five minutes of blind drawing, I looked and gasped.

I saw the beast that had killed my mother. Same long claws. Same horns. Same razor sharp teeth, and the same scar from where I'd made one successful hit on it before it killed me. I sat up and put my arms around my legs.

I growled and it disappeared in more flashes of lightning. Ray walked up beside me and sat down on the grass. "Can't sleep?" She asked. I shook my head. She put a hand on my shoulder. "I saw the lightning drawing you made. I think I know the answer but, was that the beast that killed your mom?"

I shook my shoulder and her hand slipped off. "I don't enjoy talking about the past." I said, "The past holds pain and agony. In the past you find the darkest things you try to forget that cause pain. In the past you find death and misery."

She looked stunned. Then she seemed to understand what I meant. "When we see that monster again, we will kill him. We will get a cage! We'll put a rat in the cage! We'll put Coles on top of the cage so the rat will lowly tear into his chest! A slow and painful death!"

My jaw dropped. "You're dark." I noted. She flashed a brilliant smile. I noticed since she had come to Valhalla, her braces had been removed.

"And you're a dork! Now get some sleep! If we're gonna kill that thing tomarrow we need to be well rested."
