I hear Jack mutter something, too quiet for my ears to hear. Jill slaps his arm, glaring at him.
"Jack. Shut up." Jill breathes, almost too quiet for me to hear.
"Why are you talking then?" He says with a grin, stretching his lips into a cruel caricature of a smile.
"Open up! Police!" The people outside the door start pounding on the door, preparing to kick it in.
"It's too late." Theodore smiles up at us, as Toby starts talking, words pouring out of his mouth. His hair disheveled, his goggles splayed awkwardly atop his head.
"Y-y-you're no child." He stutters, his eyes blinking rapidly. It's like he's not aware of what he's saying, as he rambles and stutters toTheodore, his eyes still fluttering rapidly.
"Tourette's, isn't it?" Theodore mocks him, blinking his own eyes rapidly, jerking his head, making fun of Toby.
Toby stalks up to him, unhooking his ax from his belt, and raises it above his head, preparing to send it slamming into Theodore's head.
"No!" Jill yells, as she grabs his arm on the downward swing. A crashing sound reverberates around the room, as the front door is kicked in.
"Police!" A voice yells, as Jack grabs Jill, Toby, and me.
"We're leaving the kid." Jill says, as Jack grabs the struggling Toby.
"Stop it!" He yells, as a grating shriek overcomes the sounds of the furious men.
"Rake." Toby whispers, as he finally stops struggling.
"Let's go." Jill snarls, and we all stop. Jill focuses, concentration creasing her forehead, and nothing happens.
"You're fucking kidding me." Jack growls, as the screeches of men being ripped apart by blood thirsty claws echo through the small shack. They're cut off suddenly, and I hear claws dragging on the floor, out the door.
"Try again!" I plead, my voice high-pitched.
"What does it look like to you?" Jill screams, as Toby worriedly looks down the hall.
"M-more are coming. I think the Rake left." Toby stutters, speaking too quickly for his words to keep up, adjusting his goggles over his eyes, hiding his rapid blinking.
"T-the R-rake i-is s-super s-scary i-isn't i-it?" Theodore fake stutters, imitating Toby.
"Leave it." Jack orders, as Toby tries to break away from our huddled circle. I hear shouts, as footsteps stomp into the hall.
"Leave me. Teleport." Toby says, breaking away from the circle.
"Toby!" Jill gasps, as she tries to lunge for his shirt. he dances out of her reach, and Jack pulls her back by her collar.
"It was a glitch in the system." I mutter, and she snaps her head to me.
"What?" She demands, as the men start yelling, having found the bodies.
"A glitch! Something was messed up, we were able to teleport with a mortal, a mortal was able to hurt you! It was a glitch!" I yell over the footsteps, growing closer.
"Just leave me!" Toby screams, pushing us back.
"We're going." Jill and Jack say at the same time, looking at each other.
"Jinx." She whispers, as the small room vanishes from my sight. We stand in a clearing, a park in the distance.
"We left Toby." I whisper, as Jack scratches the back of his head.
