The door opened swiftly, and I saw Emily beckoning me over. I know he kept something from me: it has to do with mother. Every time he saw me, he looked so COLD. Just like taking a dive into freezing water. I thought, biting my tongue. The faint taste of metallic blood filled my mouth. I swallowed, hard. You need to face him: don't you want to know what happened to your mom?! A little voice in my head said.
I glanced at Vincent, and I felt frozen to the ground. With shock. Vincent had changed SO much. I really didn't expect to see him this different. He looked younger, more handsome than ever. But his hair, his eyes, his features, changed. I walked, numbly, towards the couch Vincent is sitting on.

My grey eyes darkened.

"It's a delight to have you back here Leah!" Cried Emily, with a fake tone of cheerfulness in her voice.

I didn't reply, nor did Vincent. I know she's just trying to cover up the uncomfortable silence that seems to stretch forever between us, like a rubber band. I sighed.

"Vincent." I said flatly, without showing any emotion.

He cringed at the sound of his name being spoken.

I continued:" Sebastian told me that you want to see me?"

Another cringe.

" And that there's something that I needed to know!?" My eyes flashed.

With a sigh, he stood up and faced me. I drew in a shocked breath. Tears, from both being pissed and from being afraid, began to well up in my eyes just looking at his face. It could have haunted me forever: despite his devilishly handsome features, he was broken, hallow. His sapphire eyes were empty. His face was a mixture of sadness, pain, and betrayal. I've never seen him like this since he had Emily. Tears began to flow down my cheeks silently. Why do I have to give everything away?! Can't I control and hide for one minute?!

" Evelyn." Vincent said, quietly.

"Vincent. Why didn't you tell me? Why can't you? What happened?" I asked, stunned.

"Why didn't you tell me what you've been doing?! Why are you even here?! Aren't you supposed to be in Hell?! There's no place for you to be here! I thought you've made the decision already."

"Because I wanted, no I needed to come here. There's something I need to know about mom."

He shook his head, obviously not believing me. I kept going.

"I also want to know what you've kept from me all this time. Why did you keep this away from me? I trusted you! You lied, when I was right here. You knew what happened to my mom." My voice was lifeless

I wanted to keep you safe."

"VINCENT! I can't pretend anymore!" I shrieked, " IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL PROTECTION?! TO SHEILD ME FROM THE TRUTH WHEN I DESERVE TO KNOW?! IF THIS IS MENT TO BE PROTECTION, THEN PROTECTING ME FOR WHAT?! FROM WHAT?! HOW CAN YOU, EXPECT ME TO TRUST YOU, TO CONFIDE TO YOU! HOW CAN I, TRUST A MAN WHO DOSENT EVEN TRUST HIMSELF?!"

"Eve. I didn't have a choice." His voice was brittle.

"No, you did. But you chose to waste it. You chose to lie instead of facing the truth!"

He was silent.

"Are you sure that you're ready to hear this?"

I glared at him icily. How could he ask me?! How could he?!

"Of course." I replied, coldly.
