Get Home By Bastille
Dan POV
As we left the cave I stopped to look at what Kara had carved and traced my fingers over her name then the one from over a hundred years ago. It was literally identical, but maybe it was just because it was scratched onto the stone. There was no way it could be her, Kara looked roughly 25, give or take a few.
Kyle had offered to show Charlotte another cool place nearby, but Kara and I were both tired. Charlotte said that her and I should just go back to Kara's place and wait for them to return. Kara seemed a bit against the idea, but reluctantly agreed. I felt bad that I may have been annoying to her, but I smiled and climbed into the Porsche. I could afford one now but I liked being cheap still.
"Thanks for letting me hang out with you. I can stay out of your way." I said softly and buckled up as did she. She laughed before shrugging a little.
"I think Charlotte is trying to get me to flaunt my wealth. I live in a big house, but I mainly stay in her little flat cause I don't like the loneliness of a big empty house. I'd love to show you around though." She smiled at me and I smiled back. She started the car and sped towards the pricier part of Malibu, into the hills and stopped in front of a mansion that was on a cliff. It had large glass doors and looked extremely modern, but once we had walked in it was so old and classical. It was beautiful. I looked around at old paintings, not noticing Kara watching me with a smile. "You like old things? This place is like a museum." She laughed a little as I nodded still in amazement. I stopped to look at a painting that had birds flying and noticed a small K in the bottom, yet the date was 1964.
"Who painted this? I thought it was you but I saw that and I think that is the date." I ran my fingers through my hair then looked at her. She looked down for a moment as if she really had to think about it.
"It was my mother. I have her name." She said softly before heading into the kitchen and grabbing two beers before showing me to the backyard with the waterfall pool, which was absolutely amazing like the rest of the house. "As I said it can get lonely up here, but it's breathtaking." She looked out off the cliff as she sipped her drink and I watched her before walking over and joining her by the railing.
"Its like being alone on the road. You get really lonely. You feel like you've been gone for years and like you have no one to talk to ever. Even if you are surrounded by tons of people you still feel alone." I looked down, getting lost in my thought when I felt her hand on my chin and I looked in her eyes then kissed her softly. She rested her hand on my cheek as I rested mine on hers.I parted our kiss, not wanting to push her, then placed my forehead on hers. The smile didn't leave my lips or hers as we looked in each others eyes.
"Well did we interrupt?" Kyle shouted from the open back door and Kara moved away quickly, faster than I could move, but just enough distance for me to hold her hand. Charlotte smirked and hit Kyle in the back of the head.
"I was enjoying that moment you goof!" She huffed and walked back inside with him.
"I should go...when can I see you again?" I looked at her and she bit her lips together before looking at me.
"Whenever you have time Mr.Smith. Farewell." She smiled and kissed me softly again before walking inside as I stood there for a moment. I walked quickly to catch up and said good bye to Charlotte before following Kyle to our car and climbing into the passenger side.
"Good job mate. I'm surprised you kissed the girl." He laughed and I rolled my eyes looking to the scenery as it passed. I actually had a chance with her and I planned to not waste it. I looked up and saw a van blocking the road, which Kyle saw as well and came to a stop. A large, strong looking man in tattoos approached our car and held a gun aimed at us.
"Get out and get in the van" He said and we got out, doing as we were told. I was scared and had no idea what this is about, neither did Kyle considering the expression on his face. I just stared at the man that held the gun towards Kyle and I as we sat in the back of the van, his accomplice driving. He glanced to his friend and spoke loud enough for us to hear.
"Tell the captain we have them and send the message to those monsterous women. We can put them down once and for all."
I looked at Kyle as he looked back at me, completely confused and in shock. What did these men want with Kara and Charlotte?
