Name: Pit
Franchise: Kid Icarus game series
Gender: Male
Species: Angel

(I was planning on doing Pit first, but it was Taokaka that got me to start this book, but hey, here he is.)  🐉

Pit(picture above), Nintendo's special little angel, having been around for around the same time as Samus of the Metriod series and Link of Legand of Zelda series. Pit, much like Sora from Kingdom Hearts, has a big, caring, and kind heart, but doesn't have many brains. Unlike most angels, Pit can't fly without the help of some outside force, such as Palentana or the Three Sacred Treasures. He also has a big appetite, eating everything from ice cream, fruit, vegetables, pheasant, just about every kind of food you can think of. Pit also has a extreme love for hot springs, a common healing spot since the first Kid Icarus game.

Pit began as a simple angel amongst angels, if not slightly different, but he had one problem: he couldn't fly. At all. Though the exact reason why is currently being speculated, this has been a problem for Pit since, possibly, his birth. Medusa, Queen of the Underworld of Skyworld, or Angel land as it used to be called, captured Palentana, the Goddess of light, and turned all angels to stone... Minus Pit, of course. For whatever reason, Pit was trapped in the Underworld, and Palentana saw this as an opportunity. Through magic and some form of ESP, she managed to tell Pit of his mission and give him one of his iconic weapons: a bow and arrow. With bravery pushing him and a mere bow and arrow at hand, he single handedly tracked the Three Sacred Treasures down, defeated the bosses guarding the pieces: Twinbellows, Pandora, and Hewdraw, and used the Three Sacred Treasures to defeat Medusa and free Lady Palentana.

Palentana decided to make Pit her commanding officer of her army of centurions. She put Pit through a training program to toughen him up. During this time, Palentana received a dream saying that a powerful demon, known as Orcas, was planning on taking over Skyworld, still known as Angel Land at the time. Palentana told Pit to find the Three Sacred Treasures and use them once again to defeat the demon, while still in his training. Pit succeeded in both his training and defeating the demon.

Years later, now as Palentana's commanding officer, Pit was summoned again to protect Skyworld. The Underworld Army was attacking again, signaling Medusa's return. Pit fought all of Medusa's commanders, but something unexpected happened during one of the fights. Pit's target was Pandora and the Mirror of Truth, which had the power to create copies of whoever looks into the mirror. Just as Pit shattered the mirror, it managed to make one last copy; Dark Pit. Pandora planned to trick Pit to look in the mirror and create his dark half and have Dark Pit kill his original, but her plan backfired when Dark Pit turned on Pandora. With Dark Pit's help, Pit was able to defeat Pandora, but then Dark Pit presided to absorb Pandora's lingering magic, enabling him to fly indefinitely, where as Pit still couldn't fly without Palentana's help, and even then it could only last five minutes at a time before Pit's wings would burn.

Dark Pit insisted that he was the original and not Pit. Though he was against Medusa, he was also out for Pit's neck. He was a thorn in Pit and Palentana's sides, but he helped them get into Medusa's Palace and defeat her with the Three Sacred Treasures. Only to find out that Hades, true ruler of the Underworld, was behind the whole invasion. And things were only going to get worse. Viridi, goddess of Nature, got involved, and she hated the humans for destroying nature, and she hated the Underworld Army for consistently getting in her way. During this time period, Pit accidentally unleashed the Chaos Kin, an insect-like creature that consumes souls and causes, well, chaos. It wasn't till after it was too late. Without Pit realizing it, the Chaos Kin took over Palentana and made her trap Pit's soul in a ring for three years before Pit could wake up. Pit managed to escape, and with the help of Viridi and Dark Pit, defeated the Chaos Kin and saved Palentana's soul. However, the Chaos Kin tried to take Dark Pit with it, and even though Pit already used the power of flight, he chased and rescued Dark Pit, with his wings catching fire in the process.

In an attempt to save Pit, Palentana sent Dark Pit to the Rewind Springs, a place in the Underworld that can turn back time and, basically, make whoever swims in its waters young again. However, when Dark Pit came to the spring, the magic he took from Pandora left him and became Pandora again. Pandora presided with using the spring to obtain her previously lost humanoid body, called Amazon Pandora. Dark Pit was able to defeat her despite this, and used the spring to bring Pit's wings back to normal. However, with Pandora's magic gone, Dark Pit couldn't fly no longer, putting him in the same position as Pit.

Despite coming this close to death, Pit continued to fight Hades. When Pit confronted Hades with the Three Sacred Treasures, Hades put them out of commission and attempted to devour Pit whole. Pit was able to escape and defeat Hades living heart. That didn't kill Hades though. When Pit came to the god of the forge, Dyntos, to make a weapon powerful enough to defeat Hades, Dyntos made Pit go through three trials to prove he can use the Great Sacred Treasure. Pit succeeded with flying, despite his constant complaints. Using the Great Sacred Treasure, Pit confronted Hades once more, and Hades almost destroyed that weapon entirely. If it weren't for Medusa suddenly showing up and punching Hades in the face. This gave Pit and Palentana the chance to retrieve the gun mount of the Great Sacred Treasure and charge it up with power. It was enough to destroy Hades once and for all. Victory!

Pit has been a Smash Bros. character since Brawl. In Brawl's adventure mode, the Subspace Emissary, Pit is first seen watching the battle between Mario and Kirby. When the Subspace bomb goes off, Palentana tells Pit to go fight this new enemy alongside Mario and the others. Pit finds Mario and teams up with him. His doppelganger, Dark Pit, appears as an unlockable character in Smash Bros for Wii U and 3ds, and Palentana herself becomes a fighter alongside Pit in the Wii U and 3ds copies of Smash Bros. Characters such as Magnus and Phosphora, who appeared in Kid Icarus Uprising, show up as summonable Support characters, and Viridi, goddess of Nature, appears only in the Wii U version of Smash Bros during the Palentana's Guidance easter egg. Pit also appeared outside his games and Smash Bros, usually as an easter egg. In Tetris Type B, one of the alternative endings you can get shows many of Nintendo's characters playing instruments, Pit being one of them playing a violin beside Donkey Kong in the top corner of the screen. As previously stated, Pit also appeared as one of the main characters in the cartoon Captain N the Game Master, being called Kid Icarus after his game series.

Pit has been compared to the likes of Link, since both came out around the same time, though Pit came first by one day. No seriously, look it up. The release date for the Legend of Zelda is one day behind the first Metriod game and the first Kid Icarus game, both of which were released on the same exact day! Pit himself claims Link is "totally ripping off his style" in the Palentana's Guidance easter egg, since both use a bow and arrow and, as Pit himself states, were "born around the same time." Pit and Link are seen fighting in one of the "movies" in Smash Bros for Wii U and 3ds. Though the movie was mainly to introduce Palentana as a fighter, the anime style fight scene between Pit and Link before Palentana appears to quell the fighting has caught fans' attention. Especially since it wasn't the first time Pit has been seen in anime style. To promote Kid Icarus Uprising, Nintendo released 6 episodes of a Kid Icarus anime, 2 of which in the style that we see in the fight between Link and Pit, while the other episodes were filmed in computer animation.
