Kunpimook Bhuwakul bent low on the back of his Triad Eagle, Kopris, as they soared above the Northern Mountain Range Helseits. His second, Jennie Kim, followed silently on her cockatiel Silvermist, scanning for any sign of these... monsters the prince had informed them about. It had been quite surprising to hear of black magic in the kingdom, the last Trevera had seen of it been nearly a century ago and it had set everyone in the 6th Guard on edge. Jennie had insisted they doubled their usual patrols around the kingdom, sending more members to Tailnades and sent Lalisa and her hummingbird Varissa to watch over the castle and the royal family. Soon, Kunpimook estimated, Mark and the other guard leaders as well as their seconds would meet at the public hiking trail near the base of the mountain to hunt these hellhounds before they could strike again and claim more lives. Until then, they would survey the area and see if they can pick up any visible threats from the air. Now above the opening of Helseits Canyon Falls, Kunpimook was squinting at a rather large figure moving beneath the fog. He signalled for Jennie to stay close and silently the two flew lower so to see if what was below them was a deer or something far more sinister.

"It's a stag," Jennie whispered when the male deer shook it's head at their approach and cleared the mist out of its way, bending down to drink from the only source of clean water in Helseits. They pulled Kopris and Silvermist back in the direction they came from and for the moment everything was eerily quiet, nothing but the sound of the Triads' mighty wings beating in air. At least that's what it sounded like. There was an irregularity in the pattern, as though one of them were flying out of sync with the other... or someone had joined them a few clicks behind and couldn't match the rhythm Silvermist and Kopris set. Jennie's craned her heard back to test her theory but there was nothing, making the rider frown at the paranoia that had set in her head. Shaking her head clear, Jennie turned forward only to once again hear that displaced sound but this time she couldn't tell what direction they were coming from and that unnerved her even more than she already was. Before she could voice her concerns, a figure flashed in her peripheral vision and Kunpimook reigned Kopris into a sharp turn to avoid crashing into whatever had come for him head on.

"What the hell was that?" Jennie yelled when she moved Silvermist back beside Kopris who was visibly shaken. Silvermist nudged the eagle's side a few times to ease his stressful state.

"I don't know but it's probably going to come back- JENNIE!" Jennie felt her skull rattle at the impact that hit her and Silvermist's side, nearly knocking into Kopris but luckily Kunpimook managed to pull away just in time. Desperately, Jennie pulled on Silvermist's reigns as they plummeted right for a narrow cliff, her leader fending off whatever had slammed into her. Silvermist cried in agony as she hit the ledge, Jennie was knocked clean off the saddle and would've fallen further had she not grabbed the edge, gasping at the 100 foot drop awaiting her should she let go. She dug her nails into the dirt of the ledge when it shook at a sudden weight that landed on it, right in front of Jennie.
