All of this chapter is a flashback. I just didnt feel like puttung it all in italics. This is just more if a filler chapter but I also wanted to show a but if Zane and Nana's relationship since I killed Nana off really quickly after introducing her to the story--Kat
Zane's POV
The more I looked at her the more I slipped away. She was the embodiment of perfection. Not just her beauty; her as a being. Her personality. I love her. So much. She's everything to me. My world. I held Nana to my chest as she soundly slept. I gently ran my hand through her natural bubblegum pink hair. My heart raced as I thought about what was going to happen today. She slowly reached her hands above her head and arched her back; stretching. I held her tighter to me as she rubbed her eyes and sleepily yawned. Her golden eyes peered up at me through her lashes. A small smile slipped onto her face. My breath hitched as she reached up pressing her lips to mine. I slowly closed my eyes leaning into the kiss. She broke away and rested her head back down on my chest. I kissed her head. "I love you." I mumbled into her hair. She smiled again. "I love you too." I hug her tighter. Every time she says that my heart flutters.
She kissed my cheek and pulled off the blankets. She slipped off the bed making the bed feel noticeably colder. I rested my hands behind my head. I watched as Nana went around the room getting ready. I gently close my eyes; not ready for the day. Even though I was very anxious. I slowly opened my eyes as I felt the bed dip. Nana slid on top of me; planting her hands on either side of my face. Her legs were wrapped around my waist. "Yes, love?" I question. She giggled and kissed me again. I hummed and rested my hands on her hips. I kept my eyes closed even after she pulled away. She started kissing all over my face; making me scrunch up my nose. "Okay, stop being cute and get ready. We have a big day today." I said holding her cheeks to stop kissing me. She raised an eyebrow and opened her mouth to say something but I stopped her. "Don't ask anything because I'm not going to tell you." she pouted knowing I was serious. I kissed her one more time and sat up; making her sit on my lap. I lifted her up by the hips and set her back down on the bed. "Well, then tell me one thing." I turn around leaning up against the dresser. "What should I wear?" I smiled and rolled my eyes. "Something casual but nice." I shrugged my shoulders. She scoffed. "Yeah, that's such a big help. Thanks babe." She said sarcastically. I chuckled at the level of sass in her voice.
I sat in our living room waiting for Nana to come down. I stood up, fixing my hair in the full length mirror. I look over my outfit, regular navy blue flannel and black jeans with black converse. Should I change? Do I look fine? Why the hell does it matter?! I sigh taking the red velvet box out of my pocket. I flip open the box and stared at the shiny beautiful engagement ring. "Hey babe." she said, making me jump and snapping the box close. I shove the box back in my pocket and turn to my beautiful girlfriend. She started carefully descending down the stairs. She wore a dark blue skirt, a white and blue striped shirt and a one of my old button ups tied around her chest. Paired with blue sneakers.
She always took my breath away. She always did. She reached the bottom of the stairs and stood right infront of me. I wrap my arms around her waist, gently placing my lips to hers. "You look beautiful." I said before taking her hand and leading her out of the house. "You're still not gonna tell me where we're going?" She asked giving me puppy dog eyes. "Nope." I said popping the 'p'. She groaned and I opened the car door for her. She smiled gatefully and got in. I'm so goddamn lucky.
I pulled into the parking lot of the beach. We had went out to a movie and then out to eat. She looked at me with a confused smile. "More?" she asked. I turned off the engine and walked around the car to her side, opening the door for her again. I held my hand out for her to take it and helped her out of the car. I held onto her hand and grabbed the basket full of snacks out of the trunk. "What are you doing?" she asked a giggle in her voice. I closed the trunk with a smug smile on my face. I looked at her staying silent. I leaned down and kissed her nose gently and lead her to the coast. I set down a blanket and the basket. It was still perfect out. Not too cold, not too hot. It was later into the afternoon so nobody was really on the beach. Nana eventually caught on and started to lower herself to the blanket. I stopped her by grabbing her hand. "Hold on." She turned to me; her face laced with confusion. I held onto her hand and lead her closer to the coast.
The sky was turning to a beautiful pinkish-orange. I turn to her holding both of her hands in mine. My hands started to shake and my heart started racing. I took a deep breath and looked into her sparkling golden eyes. "I...I understand if you want to wait." I started looking down at my feet. "Huh?" I took another deep breath. "You...Nana Devlin are one of the most amazing beings in this universe. You mean everything to me. You've made these past 3 years the best years of my life. I never thought I would ever feel the way I do with you. You are my best friend and you've brought the better out in me." She still stared at me with a confused smile. I dropped one of her hands to reach into my pocket. I pull out the box and got down on one knee. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you." I let go of her oher hand and open the box. Her breath hitched and tears started forming in her eyes. "Will you marry me?" I ask with a shaky voice. Tears fell down her face. She closed her eyes shut and nodded her head. "Yes?" I clarify. "Yes!" she exclaimed. I stood up and wrapped my arms around her waist; lifting her into the air. OH MY FUCKING IRENE SHE SAID YES! Tears started streaming down my face too. I set her back on the the ground and firmly planted my lips on hers. I pull away and slip the ring onto her finger. Tears started to fall down her face faster. She looked down a her hand admiring the ring thats now taken its place on her hand. I lifted her chin looking into her glossy eyes before kissing her again. I could taste her tears as she held the back of my neck. She pulled out and hugged me. "I love you." I said as she looked up at me smiling. "I love you too." She said making my heart flutter.
