Beep. Beep. Beep.

I quickly shut off my alarm before my father hears it. I got out of bed slowly so I don't reopen and of my injuries. I look over my cuts and bruises in the bathroom mirror, my dad had "fun" with me last night after he got back from the bar. I put make up on after showering and got dressed in my black jeans and long sleeve sweater that helped covered up my bruises that make up couldn't cover completely, then I put my hair up in a way that covered my the cuts on my face. I made my way downstairs and made eggs with toast, leaving a serving for my father when he wakes up for work. I grab my bag for school and begin my 20 minute walk.

While I was walking a black Jeep slow down next to me. I looked over, but quickly looked away when I saw who was driving. Alex Pierce. I kept walking, but he kept driving right next to me.

" Um, excuse me, Miss?" Alex said awkwardly, I looked over with a neutral expression, hoping he would just leave already.

" Yes?" I replied while facing forward, continuing my walk to school.

" Do you need a ride?" He asked. I turned quickly and gave him a questioning look, "I've seen you walking to school for the past few months and I thought I might ask."

" Well, thank you for your concern, but I'm good," I said before mumbling, "Besides, even if I wanted to I can't."

" What was that? Scared other girls will be jealous?" He joked. I looked away, shuddering at the thought of Jessica and her gang of plastic frauds, I wonder what they'll do to me today. I quicken my pace trying to get to school sooner, but was stopped as I heard Alex's voice sound a bit worried, "Wait, are you scared?"

"Huh?" I wasn't expecting that, "Oh! No, it's not that! It's just... Complicated."

"Okay...? See you in class?"

"Sure, I guess," I looked forward and saw him look at me one last time before driving off. After about a few minutes later, I saw a car out of the corner my eye, driving partly on the sidewalk I was on. Then I turned fully towards the vehicle and saw my dad with a beer in his hand—clearly drunk—driving towards me. The last thing I remember was my legs trying to move me out of the way before I was
hit.
