spiderweb

love is a spiderweb.

gently alluring, catching rays of morning sun.

droplets of dew glimmer and shine,

promises of truth and faithfulness,

drawing your eye close.

love looks magnificent from afar,

craftily tempting,

strangely attractive.

it causes you to reach out your hand,

warily grazing it with your fingertips

but love is too tempting,

promising false realities, safety, and security.

love ensnares, captures, restrains.

it entangles, chokes, suffocates.

you open your wings to fly away,

but you are pulled deeper into the complexity.

love is sticky, deceiving.

the few that escape are the lucky ones.

for the massive spider of lies drugs you,

sticking in its needle of hope,

blinding you to the truth.

only once the fangs of commitment display themselves

are you aware of your situation,

and by then it's too late.

you've been eaten alive.
