A pair of golden eyes emerged from the darkness within the bushes, followed by the low rumbling of an angry animal. Logan jumped when he heard Reever errupt with the very same noise, intimidating her prey...

The bush parted as a hairy beast leapt from its branches, his claws outstretched for his target. Reeve was ready, though, with her handmade mace dangling by its chain in her hands. She swung it over her head at the very moment the beast jumped out of the bush, and swung it forward as he flew towards her, his paws aimed at her throat. The claw of the bear trap soared at the lion's face, scratching it deeply across its snout. The lion's course changed as he whimpered with pain, falling to the ground just short of Reeve's feet.

"Get back," she demanded Logan, pushing him further away from the growling beast. She was panicking, because she knew this was a were-lion, and she knew were-lions were strong, but her voice was calm and sharp.

Reeve and the lion stood a few feet away from each other, both at the ready to pounce if the other made a sudden movement. Logan watched as blood dripped from the gash on the lion, wondering what the man would look like now with a large wound on his face. He hoped Reeve would kill him, though; he didn't want to be caught, but he also didn't want to be eaten by a lion. He saw the animal lower, showing signs it was about to pound again. "Reeve, look out!" he called.

She was more than ready; her mace swung forward once again, the claw scratching at the lion's face once more - on its forehead - as it jumped at her. It fell to the ground once more and whimpered, snuffling at the ground in pain.

"You want more?" Reeve yelled at it, "Or do you want to show your face and surrender?"

The lion looked up at her with glaring yellow eyes, showing nothing but pure hatred for her. Logan could nearly hear the lion's thoughts, knowing he loathed the woman in front of him for many reasons. He was surprised to see the lion stand up straight, on its hind legs, and transform into his human form. It was the blonde one.

The man in front of them looked Reeve up and down, seeing a woman he clearly wasn't expecting. Like Logan, he had expected a gothic teenager, but instead he saw a snarling young woman, ready to rip open his throat. Logan saw this as well, for the first time, and he realized she was more than just a pretty face; she was a threat, and something to worry about.

"You're one of the officers looking for me?" Reeve demanded, still not lowering her weapon.

The man nodded once.

"Are you going to try and capture me now? Bring me to your precious president?"

Puzzling enough, the man shook his head. Reeve was confused; he's been following her this long to bring her back. Logan told her they wanted her for public punishment. It must be a trick, she thought.

His mouth lifted on one side, forming a demonic smirk. He began to circle Reeve, while she turned slowly to keep her eyes on him at all times. He looked her all around before speaking, "You killed my friend."

She frowned, "I don't recall."

"You tore off his face, you sick bitch."

Her eyes darkened, "I never even saw your friend. This is the first time I've seen anything more than a footprint from the two of you."

"How do you explain his body lying on the edge of the forest, then!" he yelled.

Logan watched with wide, scared eyes. Maybe he should run; just keep going. Reeve would want him to do that, in fact, unknown to him, she was hoping he would do that. Run, you idiot! she screamed in her mind. She refused to take her eyes off the were-lion, and so she couldn't make this obvious with a glare to him. Logan refused to leave, though; he couldn't leave her, she needed him. His eyes flashed to a large hammer, dangling from the man's belt. Reeve risked a glance at her comanion, hoping to give him a signal to run, but she saw something horrific; she knew what he was going to do. No, no, you imbicile!!
