Heres the next chapter, a day late because your author is a loser.
Daniel's PoV
I don't really know how it happened. It was a good night, about an hour or so in, laughter and playful conversation of all the sorts. The only downside to the night was Jen's strange behavior, causing me to want to keep my distance, but other than that, everything was pretty okay. Another hour or so passes though, and thats when things really started to pick up.
"David, what are you doing?" i asked, watching as he poured himself yet another glass of wine. David was practically the definition of a light weight, and as the night went on i had watched him successfully down about three glasses of wine already, aiming for a fourth. I wanted to say something around the second glass, but i thought i knew David well enough to believe that he would stop at a good time.
But as he sloppily grabs his glass, cheeks red, half-lidded eyes and a big smile on his face, trying to pour another glass, i began having second thoughts.
"Daniel- Daniel have you tried the wine? It's so, good baby," he said. Gwen and Jen's attention were turned to my drunk and slurring fiance, and i felt myself obligated to put a stop to this.
"Yes David, i have. I know its good but i think that's just about enough for tonight okay? I don't want you getting sick," i said, trying to take the glass from him. He whined quietly, leaning away from me and pouring another drink for himself while he was still out of my reach. "No- David-"
"Jus' one more-"
"No-"
"Yes-"
"No-" he took another drink and i grabbed his waist, pulling him closer to me, and he gasped loudly, pulling his drink away.
"Get your wandering hands OFF ME MY GOOD SIR!" He slirred, making me sigh. I did as told and let him go, watching as he set his glass down and straitened out his shirt with a huff. "You frisky Dan- I-" he stops for a moment, hiccuping, "-I should fight you for that. You're hot, but i'll throw some rounds with you," he said, making my cheeks burn red in embarrassment. Gwen muffled her laughter from the other side of the table, causing me to shoot her a glare.
"Uh, should we go? It seems like you have your hands full right about now," she said, taking a sip of her apple juice. I grinned sheepishly at the two females, still trying to pry David's wine glass away from him before he can get another taste.
"You're not wrong. I think maybe it's about time we call it a night, yeah?" Gwen and Jen exchanged a look before shrugging and standing up from the table.
"It was a wonderful night, and thank you for that, but we're probably gonna get going," Jen said. I nodded and smiled at the two women, standing up from my seat as well.
"I'll make sure you both get out to your cars safely," i offered. Jen shot me an almost flirty gaze, making me grimace as she turned around, and out of the corner of my eye i could have sworn i seen David pout. I brushed it off as my imagination as i turned around and grabbed his hand, pulling him up with me. I settled him down on the couch and walked to the door to see them off. I waved as they both got in their cars and i made sure they were completely gone before closing the door and crossing my arms as i approached David.
"Do you care to explain why you suddenly got so out of hand, David?" i asked sternly. He pouted up at me, raising his arms and making grabby hands at me so i would come down to him. I sighed heavily, before giving in to his pleading and sitting down on the couch, picking him up and putting him on my lap. "Baby, what happened tonight? I thought you were having a good time," i said quietly. He made a small grumble sound as he fiddled with the bottom of my shirt.
