Screaming and Yelling

Screaming and Yelling

Running outside,

Away from the house.

Up and down the stairs I go,

Screaming with my sisters.

Not knowing if it is a game, or not.

Filled with fear,

I watch,

Cowering near my door.

Hitting her head,

My mom falls to the floor.

Feeling helpless

And scared.

Not knowing what to do.

We stood right next to the wall.

A table stands between them.

Separating my mom and dad.

My emotions fleeing.

No fear.

No happiness.

No sorrow.

No confusion.

Anger.

Now standing in the center of the table,

I yell.

Yelling at him to stop.

Knowing everything was wrong.

She told me to get down.

I did as I was told.

I still don’t understand.

We go to leave,

But he tries to stop us.

When out the door he falls forward,

Landing half on the stoop.

I’m scared.

Not knowing what happened.

Is my dad okay?

But then he stands once again.

He starts yelling at my mom,

Telling her to stay.

Waling towards us,

He falls again.

Landing face down

On the ground.

I’m confused

And scared,

With no clue what’s going on.

Not knowing what to do.

I just stand there.

This poem was inspired by a personal experience of mine from when I was younger.

Each stanza is more or less a different event. They aren't in any particular order. Also, sorry if it seems incomplete. There are many other events I could add, but for several reasons I can't really write about them.
