☆☆UPDATED 1/28/22☆☆

"Your brother is sooo hot, Camille!" My best friend, Josie, gushed as she stared over at Jake.. who was at his locker with his tongue down some cheerleaders throat.

Gag.

"Stepbrother," I rolled my eyes and reminded her, while closing my locker door after retreiving my backpack, "and he's not even a little bit attractive."

Ew.

For whatever reason, she's been madly in love with Jake ever since he and his dad moved in with us, exactly two years ago tomorrow. His dad and my mom met on a business trip, and apparently fell in love at first sight. Not like that is actually a thing. But anyways, after trying to hold a 3 week long distance relationship, my mom decided it was completely necessary that Kurtis and Jake moved in with us. Three short months later, they got married. They "just knew". que the eye roll. They went on this magnificent honey moon and left me and Jake to fend for ourselves for almost whole month. About seven months into their marriage, Kurt got into a really bad car accident on his way home from work. He fought pretty hard in the hospital, but unfortunately passed away just days later. It was a really rough time for my mom and Jake. Mom basically lives at work or at the bar, trying to keep her mind off things. So Jake and I basically take care of ourselves, other than financially.

So 90% of the time, Jake usually has some girl over while I'm usually at Josie's or she's at our house.

"Earth to Camilleeee!" Josie snapped her manicured fingers in front of my face, pulling me back to reality. "Your daydreaming has got to go girl, I can't even deal with you! How do you even have good grades with a train of thought like yours?" She laughed.

"Hey little sis!" Jake grinned, throwing his arm over my shoulder, walking with us down the hall.

"Speaking of the devil." I rolled my eyes and moved from under his muscular arm.

"Oh, you were talking about me?" He joked wiggling his eyes brows and ruffling up my brown straightened hair. Which took me over an HOUR to do this morning.

"In your dreams, pretty boy." I swatted his hand and flattened my hair, or tried.

"Fiesty. I like it. Sooo, mom said she's going to be out tonight. We both know that means she will probably be gone all weekend. Think you can you be gone to?" He took a bite out of an apple, where'd the Apple come from?! "I'm gonna have my girl, Malory, over. You know." He smirked.

"Jake, you're literally disgusting." I scuffed crossing my arms over my chest. "But, I was going to stay with Josie anyways. Right Josie?" I looked over at Camille, who was just staring at Jake with doe eyes.

"Yeah, yeah, of course." She said, turning bright red and sticking a strand of her long blonde hair behind her ear. Omg.

"I mean unless you guys want to come hear her scream my name all night long." Wesley winked and nudged Josie's arm. Which made her blush harder.

"You have problems, Jacob Lee. Major major problems." I interlocked mine and Josie's arms and started heading for the exit doors.

"Thanks, little sis! Love you." He basically sang from behind me and saluted. "Oh, and don't use my full name." I shook my head.

Classic Jake.

"Sleep over! Sleep over! Sleeeeeep over!" Josie chirped as we ran out the back doors, to the students parking lot and right up to Big Red, my little red honda civic. She didn't drive, and I could never let my best friend ride the bus. She calls me her personal chauffeur. Which isn't wrong.
