I woke up in the middle of the night, nestled between John and Alexander. I tried to sit up, but Alexander was nearly on top of me. I ended up having to wake him to sit up and he curled up and closed his eyes again, falling back asleep with a quickness. As I swung my legs of the edge of the bed, I felt the hand reach for mine that I'd been missing for years...it felt so good clasped over mine.
"Babe," he asked in the darkness. "You okay?"
"Yes, I think so."
"If you say so," he whispered.
"Mmhm."
"What company?"
"I'm a big girl. I've been doing this all by myself for a long time now," I replied.
"Kaaaay..."
I chuckled and managed to rise from the mattress without hurting myself. I walked around the bed and moved toward the bathroom, then I heard the large body of the android move on the mattress looked in his direction to find him on his side, resting on his elbow as he watched me enter than bathroom. I smiled at having somewhat familiar eyes watching my every move.
Turning on the light, I walked by the large mirror and I almost missed him...and I flinched. "I'm coming for you you know," he said quietly.
I nodded. "I know."
I watched him disappear from view and saw John standing in the doorway with a hardened look on his face.
"It's okay," I told him.
"I'm staying with you."
"I'd rather you stay with Alexander, please?" I looked up into his eyes. "Please John?"
"I heard him loud and clear, Hannah. He said that he was coming for you."
I nodded. "I expected it actually."
"So did I." Suddenly, John looked down and turned around abruptly and then looked down. Once again, his face softened. "What's up, Little Man?"
"I have to pee," he said in a tiny voice.
"Okay, I'll take you to the other bathroom," John replied quietly as he looked up at me. I nodded to him that I'd be all right.
Finishing up, I washed my hands and looked into the mirror at my reflection. I could still see him. "Why are you still bothering with us?"
"I want you, Gabrielle," he said clearly. "I want you and our son."
I felt my blood grow cold. "You cannot have him. He's mine."
"He is ours."
"He didn't ask for this, you know."
"Of course he did. That's how he came to be here."
"Well then, if that's true, then his soul is tied to mine, isn't it?"
"Is it?"
"Yes. You don't have a soul," I spat. All of a sudden, the spigot came off of the sink and I was soaked in a matter of seconds. "Thanks for nothing," I yelled. I crouched down slowly and opened the cabinet beneath the sink and reached in to find all manner of bugs, snakes and other creepy crawlies and reached in to turn off the water, only, it didn't help. I peeked over the sink to find Purson grinning at me in the mirror. "Do you mind?"
"I do, actually," he said. I watched him look up and instantly, the water spraying all over me, in a temperature hot enough to burn. The worst part was that I could not move. I wanted to and I tried. I called out for help...
John was by my side within seconds and picked me up quickly and threw a towel over my head to keep the scalding water from reaching me. He removed me from the bathroom and lay me on the bed. Alexander was standing on the bed, in a steady panic, screaming.
