Richie Tozier

As the day went on, Rosie continued to avoid me like the plague. I tried to distract myself from it by talking with some of my friends, one of them of course being Eddie. I tried to talk to him about what was happening but he was just as confused as I was.

"Say that again? You mean Rosie, Rosie Evans, has been avoiding you all day?"

     "That's what I said."

"That makes no sense. She has been following you around for the past 8 years and then out of the blue just ignores you? That's just a strange thing to me."

"I know. Maybe i'm just overreacting to this. Am I overreacting to this?"

"Take it this way, now you are finally free of Rosie Evans after 8 years. Let's go celebrate!"

"Eds it's Monday. I doubt there are any parties happening on a Monday night and I know for a fact that even if there was one that your mom wouldn't let you step foot out of the house on a school night."

"My mom doesn't control me-" I gave him a look "-anymore. She doesn't control me anymore. You know what never mind. I gotta get to class, I'll see you later."

The final bell rung signaling that the school day was finally over. I walked to my bike that remained chained their the whole day as I was learning. As I began to enter in my combination to unlock the lock on my bike I heard someone give a yell.

When I turn around I see Rosie on the ground near the bus lane scurrying to pick up her books from the pavement. That must be embarrassing. Just as I am about to turn back to my bike, I see Jack Rivers bend down to help her. Jack Rivers was a receiver on the schools football team and just seeing him made me want to roll my eyes. He was a perfect student with a perfect record and had a perfect life. He annoyed me because ever since he was born he got everything he wanted. Girls fawned over him, seeming as he was 'the perfect one'. It annoyed me a lot to say the least.

I continue watching the scene between Rivers and Rosie from afar. He goes to grab her books for her and their hands met each others. Gag. I wasn't sure what I was feeling at the moment but it wasn't a good feeling. They both got up after a century of them just staring at each other. I couldn't hear what they were saying to each other but I do know that I didn't like it one bit.

I wasn't sure why I was so angry about Rosie talking to another guy. Was I jealous? No... I couldn't be. Why should I be? After 8 years of stalking and pestering she had finally did the one thing I asked her to; leave me alone.

The way that she was smiling at him the way she smiles at me made me uneasy and uncomfortable. It didn't make me feel any better that he returned that exact smile to her.

Finally they parted from each other when Rosie got into the bus, leaving him on the curb.

That afternoon I biked home with the confused thoughts of Rosie Evans stuck in the back of my head.

Rosie Evans

After my interesting conversation with Jack after school that day, I had a whole different outlook on this week. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing avoiding Richie.
