We shouldn't have, but we did. Yes, it was wrong on all levels, but it seriously felt so right in all the profound ways imaginable. Still, we could never be together—at least not openly. We were in my dorm room on the bed, his noisy mouth causing my eyes to roll back and my hand caressing the back of his bobbing head. But my eyes didn't only roll. They watered every so often from the lingering thoughts. Twice my age and my own professor... and... my best friend's divorced dad. But I loved him, and he loved me. We were meant to be together. Why? Our hearts had already spoken, and they didn't tell a single lie.
