Rule 1. Don't be a total ass. If you're just being a prick, you aren't funny, you're just an ass.
Rule 2. Swearing is fine. Swear all you want. This is a slightly mature RP, just don't cuss every second.
Rule 3. You are not perfect. Your character shouldn't be this perfect little angel. Humanize the person, make them interesting.
Rule 4. Regular humans are allowed. It's perfectly fine if your character is just a human.
Rule 5. Feedback is important. If someone is kind enough to give genuine feedback, (feedback isn't saying "it sucks" with no explanation,) take it, and use it.
Rule 6. Have fun. Enjoy yourself! It's only better for you, and me.
