jungkook woke up with a loud banging above him, as he sat up while his head felt like it will split open he noticed he's on a train station
he didn't know where exactly he was or how he ended up here but he was lying between the space of two railways, someone else next to him. jin hyung?
"jin hyung" jungkook muttered and groaned, the boy next to him let out an exasperated groan like someone just mauled him
"hyuuuuung" jungkook rasped and the boy whacked jungkook on his bare thigh, jungkook yelped and slapped his hyung's back
"HYUNG GET THE HELL UP!" jin shot up at that, eyes ready to kill
"ah, jungkook" he grabbed jungkook's head and slammed it on his chest, suffocating jungkook while hugging him at an awkward angle
"hyung~ c'mon, get off" jungkook whined and tugged on jin's shirt sleeve, prying the elder off him with no result
"aren't you gonna acclaim me? i saved you from that a-hole" jin rubbed the side of his reddened face
"saved me from? i was with kai last night. what the hell even happened?" the rush of thoughts didn't feel very pleasant to jungkook
"you called me after that match, crying and whining, i was ready to kick some ass, i came and you were alone, i don't know what the hell happened but mister bigot was on top of one guy, beating the living shit out of him"
the new information was very formidable and jungkook tried to oppress it with all his might while trying to remember what in the heck happened last night
jin hyung stood up and pulled jungkook to his feet, looking at him sympathetically
"cut it out with the warm gaze..." jungkook whispered
"this is a lot harder than it looks like and i don't think you realize that" jin hyung scoffs displeasingly
"huh?"
"it seemed like everything was okay yesterday and now you're a mess. i could be anywhere right now, fishing for compliments and all that stuff and here i am, in the middle of railroads with a teenager who is a mess in the middle of the fucking day and i don't feel like you appreciate me enough"
jin hyung's sassiness was something no one could ever cross and overcome and jungkook was left stunned
"but i know somewhere in your little heart i am your favorite hyung" which is true, don't tell hoseok
jungkook felt like this exact moment was momentous in their relationship and he couldn't help but grin, hugging jin out of the blue
"kookie, did you catch a cold? oh my god let's get you to dorms and take some medicine" jin hyung panicked for real
"i- just... 'm expressing myself..." jungkook mumbled and went to pull back but jin clasped his arms around him and pulled him even farther
"you should do it often, kookie-nim"
"kookie-nim? sounds weird, don't call me that"
"agreed"
they looked at each other for a second and cracked up, bending over and laughing wholeheartedly as sun baked their bodies
as they walked away, trying to avoid the disgusting heat, jungkook noticed they were in the middle of a ghetto, he saw only two people while they walked down the dilapidated mud-crosswalk
"hyung where in the hell are we? and how did we get here?"
"this is the place where i grew up, yesterday when i picked you up you seemed pretty down, so i took you to the place where we woke up" jin hyung smiled fondly, his eyes distant
"that place is very special to me, the sky opens just the right way and the abandoned railways create some kind of mood of peace and excitement" he babbled on, jungkook listening actively
"an old friend of mine brought me there when we were growing up. the stars shine the right way because it feels like the sky is opening up in that place. it calmed you down instantly" jin hyung turned towards him and stuck his tongue out as a teasing to younger
"well, you fell asleep shortly after, i guess i followed consecutively" jin hyung chuckled loudly and jungkook looked up at the sky
"i wonder what happened yesterday" he tried to strain his mind to remember but nothing came up besides shattered fragments of the night
the three-pointer, the dark room, the kiss, the promise...
after that nothing comes up and jungkook is worried, scared something terrible happened, and feels the urge to call kai but there's no service here and jin hyung holds his hand as an act of reassurance and jungkook feels so many emotions at once
he realizes that he doesn't deserve all these people caring for him
jiminie hyung, suga, agust, hoseok, jin hyung, and definitely not kai...
they shouldn't care about him and yet they do, in their own ways
and it warms jungkook's heart so much he bursts and starts crying silently, not noticing jin hyung smiling sympathetically again
