"See you tomorrow, Theresa!" I say to my co-worker as I enter the lift.
My job for the day is done. There's nothing special going on today, as usual. I just sat on my desk and did some research on Trump agreeing to meet North Korea's President. Not actually my cup of tea, but there's nothing I could do about it.
I wish I didn't listen to my parents. I wish I'd pursue my singing career instead. Working for the LA Times is a big deal, but it's not exactly what I'd want to do for the next ten years in my life. I mean, I like writing, I enjoy typing words and doing research, but I'd much prefer typing song lyrics. Speaking of singing...
I take my phone out of my bag and look at the messages.
It's been two weeks since Justin left me on read. I feel really bad for saying what I said, but I felt like he deserves to know the truth. It's sad to see him being played like that, especially when he really cares about her. I sigh and look at the last messages I sent.
selena: justin?
selena: justin, i'm really sorry, okay? i didn't mean it like that.
selena: justinnnnn
selena: it's been a day. can you please not leave me on read?
selena: look, i just want to say i'm sorry and i mean it. it's not my place to say that. but you deserve better. again, i'm sorry. read Fri, 5:46pm
I want to send him more messages, but I feel like maybe he needs time. He's not active on Instagram, either, which he usually is. I swear, I'm not a stalker. I just like to see the Following Activity tab and I never see him. And no, he's not blocking me, I've checked.
Maybe I should text him again... I bite my lower lip while staring at my messages with Justin. It doesn't hurt to try, right?
selena: hey, justin. are you alive?
I immediately lock my phone and put it back in the back as soon as I sent the message. Let's just hope he replies.

My heart races as I look at the last comment. He hasn't read my last message that I sent two days ago. What does this mean? Should I reply the comment or should I text him again?

Just a few minutes after I replied to his comment, I get a message notification from Justin.

selena: he really is alive, ladies & gents
justin: how are you?
selena: justin, i'm really sorry about what i said. i didn't mean to hurt you.
justin: just forget it, okay?
justin: i broke up with hailey
selena: what?? are you serious? please i hope it's not because of what i said
justin: well, it's actually because of what you said
selena: now i feel really bad i'm sorry
justin: no i should thank you
justin: you were right about her. i realized she's only interested in my money two days after what you said. i broke up with her immediately.
selena: i'm really sorry, justin. you deserve better
justin: i'm sorry too for ignoring you. i guess i was ashamed.
selena: no, it's really okay :) friends?
justin: friends ;)
selena: don't give me that wink
justin: so where are you going tomorrow?
selena: ah it's just my friend theresa
selena: she's forcing me to go to this bar tomorrow night. she said there's a live music she really wants to see but i'm pretty sure she just wants to play matchmaker for me
justin: why do you say that?
selena: oh because she's never that interested in music
justin: so where is this bar again?
selena: it's called point break
selena: in LA
justin: idk maybe you should come
selena: even when i don't want to, i'm gonna come anyway. theresa said she'll lift me up
justin: maybe it won't be so bad. who knows right?
selena: yeah
selena: hey, i'll text you tomorrow? i'm watching the intern and probably just gonna hit the bed.
justin: right
