Gently drifting on waves, riding to shore, slumber
Point between awake and sleep, weightless, calm
Breathing slows, mind clears, time to recharge, relax.
Suddenly pressure, inside or out? Unsure
Try to open eyes, can't, won't, feelings of fear
Chilling sensation, rising upwards, enveloping
Motionless body, muscles redundant, stationary.
Harsh finger tips, scratching, moving over skin
Knowing there's danger, nothing can be done
Fingers reaching, around throat, tightening
Scream, please, now, help!
Eternity, it feels, waiting to die
Sudden release, able to open eyes
Pressure gone, muscles revived
Breathing, panting, what the hell happened?
Answers, none, trepidation, heightened.
The night visitor, no one wants to receive.
