Me and Jess wake up in the hotel and I immediately throw my sheets off and get out of the bed. I was anxious to start my day.
"Okay so after we're with the guys we need to see the Statue of Liberty and then go to that restaurant you keep talking about it" I tell Jess as I get out of the shower. "Oh yeah I heard it's really good." "Knowing us, I'm sure we'll like anything."
I hear my phone buzz and go over to it. I open up a text from an unknown number that reads:
Unknown- Hey this is Tommy's friend Ricky (or Banks, you can just call me Banks). I just wanted to know if you two still planned on coming over today. I've been looking forward to seeing you.
I smile and jump on the bed. "What?" Jess asks "Banks texted me!" "Who?" "That's Ricky's FaZe name." "Oh. But why are you excited he texted you?" I stare at her, waiting for her to understand. "OH ELIZABETH" "No, no, stop" I laugh. "You like him?" she whispers like there are other people in the room.
I went through a really bad breakup recently and since then hadn't been able to settle down with a guy. I just have trouble giving someone the availability to break my heart.
"No, Jess, you know I'm not really into that kinda stuff."
I reply to him.
Me- hey banks :) yeah I think we're gonna try to be there by 1030. is that cool?
Banks- perfect. see u then.
We get to the FaZe house and the first person I look for, after Tommy of course, is Banks.
We spend the morning hanging out, playing pool, and them showing me some of their Youtube videos. "This one's a banger" Adapt says as he plays a "Guess that Youtuber" challenge with Banks. They were both genuinely funny people I could see myself really bonding with. Even though that thought scares me.
Cheo makes us all burgers for lunch and I sit outside with Banks. We talk for a bit about random stuff. "I'm really happy I got to spend some time with you guys." "When are you leaving?" "Four days." He looks crestfallen at the floor. "I thought I would want to do so much in this city, but somehow the only place I want to spend these next four days is here."
He slowly looks up at me and as he does so our fingertips touch against the railing. He slowly inches closer and for a millisecond I think he might kiss me. "I should go see what Jess is doing" I interrupt and break our moment. Ugh. Why did I do that?
