Dr. Harleen Quinzel
I studied myself in the mirror.
I'm wearing a dark blue strapless dress. It went down to my ankle, but was cut on the side of my right knee.
I did my make up with light blue eye shadow and sliver eyeliner. I put on my sliver choker with a blue diamond in the middle. I then drove my fingers through my blonde hair. I decided to put my hair in soft curls instead of it's usual bun. I double checked my sliver peeped toe heels. Lastly, I placed around my bare shoulders a soft silver shaw.
I couldn't recognize myself. I was in disbelief that the beautiful women in the mirror was me. I tried to shake off my nerves as I looked to one of my pugs and asked for luck.
I walked out of my apartment and walked to the elevator. I then had memories of Slade.
I remembered one day he helped me carry my groceries. He had seven bags on each arm. He huffed when I tried to help. The only thing he let me carry was the bread. I felt a sad smile creep me. I miss him so much. I really need him right now. He always knew what to say, but with the problem I have right now...Slade would be vicious.
How do I explain to someone I care about So much that I feel something for another man?Another man that he hates. What am I saying? I don't have feeling for Joker! He is patient, I just feel a connection. Joker feels it to I am sure of it. But he doesn't know how to demonstrate it. That's why he kissed me.I made way to my car and drove to IceBerg Lounge where the ball is at. It was big and beautiful. I re-checked my self in my car mirror and went inside. The music hit my ears right away. I knew the song well, it was Witch Craft by Frank Sinatra. It was played softly by a big band as guest swayed in dance.
I went to look for any familiar faces, I found a couple of colleagues that I would chat with time to time. From afar I saw Joan Leland.
She wore a short black dress that stopped above her knees. It was cut so low that her cleavage was beyond visible. Her arms was covered with long white gloves that went well with her white heels. Her hair was in a bun with strands that covered her face in soft waves. Her make up was thick black eyeliner with white eye shadow.
I tried to pretend I didn't see her, but she came straight to me. I then saw a man that traveled behind her, he was most likely her date.
"Harleen, you look lovely." Leland complimented as she gave me a dull hug.
"Joan," It was odd saying her first name,"you are breathtaking."
She coughed hard which made her date stumble to shake my hand.
"Hello, Doctor." We shook hands.
"Please, call me Harleen. We aren't in the Asylum just yet."I joked as Leland shifted in displeasure and her date seemed to relax.
"I'm George Papp. It is a pleasure."
"He's my date,"Leland added as I fought back a giggle.
"Obviously. You two look amazing. Do enjoy your evening."I said as I was about to leave.
"Oh, Harleen!"Leland stopped me. Damn I know what she is gonna ask. I bit my lip in frustration.
"I want to met your date, too," Leland laughed. I quickly thought of Slade.
I know if he was here and he didn't have a record in Blackgate, he would have Leland in awe. But he wasn't here. I was alone at my own ball."Oh...He's held up." I said and left out where exactly he was held up at.
"That's too bad,"Leland placed her arm around George and walked away.
I sat down at a table and began to play with my salad as I awaited for some real food to be served. I then heard a man behind me speak.
"Edible art." The man said as I quickly turned around to him. The man was tall with dark black hair and vibrant blue eyes. He was extremely handsome and well dressed.
He looked down at me and had his mouth raised at the side. I looked down to my plate to see that my salad had two anchovies separated on both sides. The lettuce was on top of the anchovies but around the top of the plate. The carrot was between the anchovies. Lastly the red small tomatoes was alined around the bottom half of the plate.
