Chapter 2

...A tall person, with a bright orange scarf wrapped around his neck and mouth and big, black sunglasses covering his eyes. He was wearing a thick puffy grey jacket. You could tell by his voice that it was definitely Soraru.

You had to admit, he looked an absolute idiot wearing heavy winter gear in mid-January. Quickly setting your glass straight, you thanked the waitress and tipped her as you followed him, taking your luggage with you. He looked very different from when you had last seen him. He was now much taller than you, and...

You remembered that small boy, even shorter than you, stumbling and clumsy. He would almost never be seen without the cap you had given him when you moved next to him. Both of you had been so close back then. You wondered if he had even remembered it at all, the childhood both of you shared.

Dismissing the thought, you turned to face him.

"Soraru, you have really changed at lot from back then, haven't you?" You said while laughing. He had really grown a lot. Seeing the confused look on his face, you realised that he probably could not understand a word you said. Whoops, you thought, I really should have spent some time revising how to read and write Japanese.

"Eh...w-what you say?" He tugged at the scarf wrapped uncomfortably around his neck and cocked his head to one side questioningly. He finally decided to unwrap the scarf but still wore that jacket of his. You shook your head in return, smiling at him brightly.

Taking out your phone, you typed, 'It's nothing!' You translated it into Japanese using translate and gave it to him. It seemed to be the only way you could communicate, you sighed, you really needed to take extra Japanese lessons. At least he seemed to understand basic English, so you could still talk to him to a certain extent.

Soraru nodded in understanding and pulled a black luggage bag behind him as both of you walked on to where his car was...wait what? You turned around to look at what you were holding and saw nothing. You then realised that Soraru had kindly taken it from you.

"You don't need to carry! Give it back!" You quickly made a grab for it. You really felt embarrassed at making him carry your bags. Granted, it wasn't really you who asked him to do so, but you felt indignant at letting him do all the work. You could do it yourself!

Soraru shook his head. "No, I help!" He replied. You stared at him and he stared back at you. Both of you weren't willing to back down at all. Finally, you groaned, "Fine." Soraru smiled and both of you walked on in silence.

It felt slightly awkward though, you thought to yourself as you shuffled your feet. You opened your mouth to make small talk, but then decided not to. Closing your eyes, you couldn't help but feel happy. You had truly missed being with him.

But you could not help but feel conflicting emotions at seeing him.

You had loved the 'previous' Soraru in a such a way that you could not help but feel a slight disdain for the person walking beside you. You knew that it was wrong of you, but you couldn't help but want things to go back to what they once were. You wanted the 'previous' Soraru back, Soraru was far too different from what you remembered and you could barely even accept that.

But I think I'm happy enough with the 'current' Soraru, you decided eventually.
