A young girl leaned against the wall at a airport, a foreigner in another country. She was using her phone, specifially, texting someone about her ride.
People took a good look at her, frowning. They whispered to their family members about her; the way she dressed, her posture, her appearance, everything. Some even talked in loud voices, thinking that she didn't understand.
One person even commented on how helpless she looked.
That irritated the fuck out of her.
Finally, she received a phone call.
"Hey, do you know where my ride is?" You spoke in rapid Korean and loudly, most likely on purpose.
Everyone who were gossiping stopped talking.
"Oh? Well, why didn't you tell me?" You let out an audible sigh. "Well, alright. You better be at my apartment when I get there, then. I'll walk there, just send me the address."
Once you hung up, you turned on your heels and began walking away. Quite literally. You didn't bother changing our of your heeled boots during the flight. So, while people stared at you and how misplaced you seemed, you attempted to navigate to your new apartment. It wasn't your first time going out for a case, but it was your first time leaving home for such a long period of time.
It wasn't easy to convince your father to let you leave. In fact, it's taken you two weeks to arrive here since you popped up the life-changing question. Your dad kept on postponing his answer, until your brother (who never seemed to state his opinion to your father) said to stop making you wait in suspense. In a way, you were thankful for your brother's intervention, but you felt guilty about making your dad decide so quickly.
So after taking a day to pack, you flew all the way to South Korea from the West.
The power of technology never cease to amaze you.
Developing a bad habit of texting while walking, you bump into a wall. Or, what felt to be a wall but was actually a man. Losing balance, you almost hit the floor but surprisingly the man grabbed you by the arm and hoisted you up to your feet.
"Thanks," you mumbled, pulling your suitcase to your side.
"Mhm." The man had a stern face on, as if he were angry at the world for making him run into you.
You quickly bowed before hurrying off.
Little did you know, however, when you had scrambled off, the man had a single tear cascade down his cheek after he saw your scared expression.
