People are like teapots
If you drop one from a high shelf, it will break
But once it’s been broken, a bit of glue can try to put it back together.
People are like wineglasses
If you slip them too quickly into hot water, they will start to crack
But once it’s been cracked, you can place it back in cool water and try to fix it.
People are like saucers
If you let a child play with a saucer, he will shatter it
But once it’s been shattered, you can sweep up the shards and try to make them fit.
We are not like people
We look like people, but we are very different
Because we are not like teapots or wineglasses or saucers
We are like silver dinner forks
If you drop us or heat us or give us to a child, we won’t break
But if you clamp us down and bend us, we will snap in half at the weakest point.
People break so easily
Like crystal and china, they break often
But they can always be put back together, though not as prettily as before.
We are very different
It takes an awful lot of force to break us
But once the silver fork has snapped, it’s forever broken.
