Jai's POV

I was not able to tell her that I bought her a book she already had, like that would be embarrassing. Specially when her friend was looking at us. Don't people have their own stuff to deal with? She might be desperate.

But right now I'm running towards her and she is going upstairs, maybe to her room. I called out her name but she pretended to not listen. Wierd how people are still laughing while the birthday girl is going crazy.

"Kanak," I said one more time and she stopped.

"What?" she asked annoyingly after turning around to face me. We were on the stairs. I was two steps below her.

"Um"

"I swear if you say that again, Jai.." she snapped.

"I bought you the new moon but when I heard that you already have that book I wasn't sure..." I said in a single breath and she stepped down.

There was a silence before I heard loud noise coming out from the window. People were laughing.

"Oh come on, doesn't matter!" she then held my hand and rushed me through the back door of her house towards a tent. It was like the tent on her terrace but bigger.

"Wanna have fun?" she asked.

"But the fun part's inside your house," I said while smiling nervously.

She left my hand and then faced me and then said, "Oh silly! Let's get high!"

I heard the words and all my senses couldn't believe themselves. She wanted to get drunk? We're still under age and I'm not doing that! I just stared at her moonlit face blankly, she looked really pretty today but she washed that away with her words. The hell?

"What?" she asked after a while.

"No," I stated blankly looking at her eyes.

"Huh?"

"Kanak we're not doing this! What made you think that I would- I would get drunk? We are still under age! Don't be so stupid!" I stated my point.

"You're crazy, Jai. Everyone gets drunk in their teenage years! Not like we're toddlers," she laughed.

"No, Kanak. I'm not doing this, get your senses back together! What would your parents think?" I said trying to convince her.

"Ugh! Jai, you're such an asshole!" she said and went inside the tent.

I was there alone, unable to process anything. I heard loud cheers from the tent. I heard boys and girls cheering and laughing.

I held my head low and went through the house to the front door but Trisha stopped me there.

"Hey! I know Kanak's angry at you but don't you think it's a bit rude to leave her party like that and it's your fault, you were making faces when she asked you what you bought for her."

"You don't understand, let me go!" I said in a serious tone.

Trisha's POV

I don't know why I'm asking Jai to stay. Well it was his fault and maybe I didn't want him to leave.

"You can't leave like that! She's your girlfriend," I said. Well, calling her his girlfriend hurt me but I really have no idea why I want things to work out with them. Maybe because then I would feel guilty about crushing on Jai and then finally be over with it!

He didn't say a thing, he gave me a blank face. His looks were distracting, though.

I raised my eyebrows before they fell down again when I heard those three words.

"Fuck off, Trish!"

Wtf?

I left his way calmly when I heard those words from his mouth. My brain couldn't evaluate the situation and couldn't process a phrase to slap him back with. What was he so frustrated about? I didn't feel a thing, I was numb. He wasn't supposed to say that, was he?

Jai's POV

I have no idea why I said that to her. I've never in my life swore upon anyone. And she wasn't just anyone, she was my brother's really good friend. And then, she left. Now all I felt was guilt. Yet again the history repeated itself and I followed her after one of us asked the other to fuck off. I didn't have the time to laugh at the irony.

Trisha's POV

I walked trying to forget everything about him and everything that happened tonight. I had a crush on this guy? I paced forward to the road and then I heard his voice, he was calling me. My heart asked me to stop but my brain didn't agree. This time I heard my brain's voice because my heart's just good for pumping blood. His voice fainted inside my head and I took a breath of relief.

I called my dad to drive me back home, we picked my bicycle from Cheryl's home on the way back. I would return her dress tomorrow.

Jai's POV

I let her go. The guilt will kill me. I inhaled deeply, head back to my home and sunk in my bed.
