Chapter Thirty-One
Melody was woken by the sound of a loud female squeal.
"Oh my God, guys, I lost five kilograms!" Someone screamed repeatedly. "I lost five kgs!"
She groaned and walked to the door to see who was interrupting her slumber.
She saw the blonde girl from before, Danielle she thought was her name, jumping up and down next to a scale and screaming, "I lost five kgs.!" Her friends and a nurse tried to get her to calm down, but she wouldn't have it. She was about sixteen years old but was acting like a child.
Melody walked up to her and glared. "Congratulations, you lost five kilograms. Now the whole freaking world knows from your screaming. Want an Oscar?" She asked sarcastically and walked back to her room before getting a response.
Candice grumbled "I hate that bi -"
"-scuit," Melody finished and climbed back into her bed. Her medication really made her sleepy.
Just as she was about to fall asleep again, the door was slammed open and an old woman started humming a tune at an obnoxiously high volume while moping the floor. She made a truck load of noise while cleaning and opened the curtains, allowing the sun to blind them. When she was finally done, she left the door open and went to torture the next room.
Candice and Melody simultaneously groaned, and Melody closed the curtains while Candice closed the door. When they were ready to sleep again the door opened once more and a nurse shouted, "Breakfast." She left and didn't close the door.
"Oh, come the heck on!" Candice yelled and slammed the door.
"I hate this," Melody mumbled into her pillow and sighed.
"Well, they can all kiss my a--"
"--pple sauce," she finished for her with the first thought that came to mind.
She pointed her. "You need to stop that."
"How about no?" She challenged. She really wasn't one to mess with when she didn't sleep.
Candice rolled her green orbs. "You're annoying."
"Just like your face."
"No, your face."
"No, yours. Your face belongs on Natural Geographic Channel where the rest if the animals are."
"Well, clearly the dodo bird isn't extinct because they forgot you," she retorted.
"You're not worth the energy that I consume while talking to you," she waved off.
"Whatever," she huffed and sat on her bed but the wheels at the bottom rolled and she fell bum first on the cold, hard floor.
Melody stared at her, mouth agape before they both burst out into a fit of laughter. After a while Melody shook her head and asked if she was okay. Candice rolled over to lie on her stomach and groaned. "My bum," she rubbed it gently.
"You're disgusting," she frowned.
They paused before both saying, "Just like your face."
Melody stood up and went to the bathroom before changing into her clothes. She walked with Candice to the cafeteria for breakfast when heard moaning sounds as they passed a specific room. They paused and peeked through the open door to see an old, frail lady laying in a bed, beckoning them to go inside.
"Come in," she said in a raspy voice and they almost went inside but Candice stopped them.
"Room 4," she whispered. "It's that lady."
