AN INTRODUCTION

Hi. I'm Katy. Welcome to my second poetry book. Thanks for clicking on it.

Have a look inside! Take your shoes off. Stay a while. Maybe grab a cup of coffee. (Or tea, if you're into that.)

Just a warning: I'm not good at poetry. I've never been good at poetry. I'm more of a prose kind of gal. But I do love uncommon forms of storytelling. In the real world, beyond Wattpad, I'm known for writing memoirs. I'm still trying to figure out why. I think it's because crazy things seem to happen to me on a daily basis. It doesn't help that I'm a really emotional Pisces with no thick skin or backbone.

In recent news, I just turned twenty. When I look back on everything that's happened in my life these last two pathetic decades...well, I kinda don't know what to do. There's still so much to make sense of. Still so much to make peace with. Still so much to process.

That's why I've decided to create this collection of poetry. To try to make sense of the things that make no sense in an abstract, nonsensical kind of way. To me, this is another memoir. Maybe the biggest memoir I've ever written. It's just a memoir that's broken up into little bite-size pieces.

Hope you enjoy.

HOW THIS BOOK WILL BE UPDATED

The short answer: Not chronologically and in no specific order.

This poetry book consists of four separate parts. When DEAD is updated, new poems will appear in one of said parts. Sometimes you'll find new poems under all four parts. Sometimes only one part will be updated, only two parts, only three parts...

In other words, this is a very unconventional poetry book and I'm sorry it can't be updated like normal poetry books on Wattpad. If it helps, just think of the parts like folders, and every new poem is a note added inside that folder.

Only when this book is complete will you find that the poems are in order, and they form a sort of storyline.

If you can, just try to enjoy the process. I promise everything will make sense eventually.

Again, thanks so much for reading. Make sure to leave those little star votes on the chapters/poems you like, and add DEAD to your library if for some reason you find yourself enjoying this chaotic slab of a story.

__________

To my little brother, Raymond. Without you, there'd be no reason for me to keep on living.

"And then one sees, in this strange way, that underlying all that is negative in the world, all that is in a way painful and evil, there is a kind of necessity to it. It goes with the good. It is necessary for the good. Disorder is necessary for the manifestation of order just as you must have, say, a black background to show up in a light figure."
