The door bursting open was what caused Cole to stop whipping Sawyer, but it changed to his running for the small window when he realized it was the police. Before he could escape he let out a few shots towards the officers but he received a few too from the officers. The middle Kozlov was now dead and the youngest in custody having called the police for help; the eldest Kozlov was nowhere to be found and the prisoners were now on route to the hospital, one that has taken a bullet from Cole's gun when he tried to shoot a cop.
