I slammed the girls bathroom door and acted like I was exiting. I quickly saw Corey & Justin flinch in fear. Corey's facial expression was written with fear and anxiousness. Probably hoping I didn't hear a thing. Justin was cool, calm, and collected. A whole lot of confidence was shown.
"I don't know if you guys heard but the bell just runged," I stated.
Usually, at my school when you're late for class you get automatically sent to I.S. for the period. Knowing that I had to go to I.S. didn't sit well with me. It was something that was gonna go on my personal record and my chances of going to a good college was down the drain. Seems like ever since the date with Justin on my birthday; my grades haven't been a priority lately. That needs to change ASAP!
"Well I guess it's I.S. time guys," Justin said with a smile.
It sickened me knowing that he was happy about going to I.S. Maybe Justin's not the guy that I thought he was all this time. I focused my view onto Corey who looked very stressed.
"What's wrong Corey," I questioned.
"I'm just not big into going to I.S. today. I have to take a US History this period and that's something I won't be able to make up," he responded.
"Dude, relax. It's just school," replied Justin.
"No man! It's not just school. It's my life unlike you and I take this shit very seriously," said Corey angerly.
I decided to try to calm the situation before it gets out of hand.
"Guys calm down. Let's go before security finds us," I said as I was grabbing Justin's hand.
Justin yanked his hand from my hand, storming out of the hallway leaving me with Corey. Great.
"He's such a baby sometimes," whispered Corey under his breath.
"I can see that," I stated.
Shock was written on his face. I guess he wasn't expecting me to hear him say that. He belted out a chuckle that made him seem nervous. That makes two of us. He stuck his hand out, gesturing for us to walk towards the location of I.S.
It was silent at first. I wasn't sure of what to say to him. Butterflies were all in my stomach, my hands were becoming moist, and I can feel my body temperature rising. Finally, I decided to be brave and ask him a question.
"So, how long have you and Justin been friends?"
"Uhhh... Ever since we were kids to be honest, I would say around 5. His dad, Lucas, and my mom were good friends," he replied.
I was stunned. Lucas is Justin's Dad?! At least I knew there relationship status. I decided to play detective in this conversation and find out more about Lucas.
"What type of person is Lucas like," I questioned.
"Why?"
"Oh you know, just in case I meet him one day and I already know what to expect," I responded with a lie.
"Well Lucas is a great guy at times. His reasoning to do certain things at times could be off, but once you fully understand them then you realize how innocent his intentions are. He's a great father. Sometimes I wish he was my Dad," he replied Corey.
"Wow. So Justin is an only child and lives with his Dad," I questioned.
That's when Corey grew silent. It seemed like he was having an internal debate about answering my question. I was gonna say my question once more just in case he didn't hear me until he responded.
"Justin is not an only child. He has a sister. He never met her or his mother."
