(Bolded is flashback) This is from Neil's POV.
I am disappointed at Avni for leaving me this soon and taking our baby with her. I am disappointed at her for leaving the house that day. I am disappointed at her for being in a coma god knows for how long. I am disappointed at her for not talking to me right now, not laughing or smiling or throwing her pregnancy tantrums. Hell I am disappointed at everything. I am disappointed at myself for not being able to protect her or not being her as I was too busy with my work.
As Neela ma took me to sit beside Avni and placed my hand in hers, I became aware of my reality. As I felt Avni's touch, although she was lifeless and a bit cold, the flashes of all the times I touched her came running into my mind; while we dance or when she holds my hands during her nightmares or when I would tease her to see if it matters when I touch her....
As I hold her hand a little longer and a little bit tighter to feel the warmth, my mind keeps going back to the promise she made me couple months ago.
"I will never leave you Neil, main hamesha tumhara saath rahungi, tumhare paas, main kahin nahi jaungi tumhe shorkar agar tum chahoge na phir bhi nahi, okay I promise Mr. Neil Khanna." Avni said with a bit of giggle and a huge smile on her face.
Acha, agar tumhe yeh promise bhi na pura kiya, jaise tum baki promises kabhie kabhie thor deti ho, phir main kya karoonga. Bolo? I asked while hugging her from behind.
She turned around placing her hands on my neck and said "Toh phir tum mujhe hamesha ki tarah handcuffs pehna dene ACP Neil Khanna" kissed my right cheek after.
As the reality hits me that she might break her promise like she does always, I look at Avni, at her motionless, stuffed with tubes body, I start to cry, scream, yell, all the emotions starts to flow out of my body, my eyes while screaming
"NO, NO NO, NO, NO Avni! AVNI you promised me you wouldn't leave me, you promised to stay with me, please Avni don't leave me, you cant do this to me AVNI. I love you Avni please. I hugged her, kissed her face, her hand, holding her hard, trying to wake her up. DAMN IT! AVNI PLEASE GET UP. "AVNI HAI, TOH HE NEIL HAI". AVNI PLEASE! I shook her by her shoulders. PLEASE I CANT LIVE WITHOUT YOU, MAIN MAR JAUNGA! PLEASE AVNI, I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU ALONE, JUST OPEN YOUR EYES PLEASE AVNI. AVNI PLEASE. There is still no response from her. AVNI, LISTEN TO ME MAIN TUMHARE HAR TANTRUMS SEH LOONGA, I PROMISE, MAIN KABHIE APNE KAAM MEIN ZYADA BUSY NAHI RAHUNGA, MAIN HAMESHA TUMHARE LIYE WAQT NIKALUNGA, BUT PLEASE AVNI EK BAAR, BAS EK BAAR APNI AANKHE KHOL DO, PLEASE EK. MERE LIYE, HUMARE BABY KE LIYE. PLEASE AVNI, MUJHE ITNI BARI PUNISHMENT MAT DO, TUMHE MANA KARNE KE LIYE. PLEASE AVNI, PLEASE WAPIS AA JOA! I kept shaking, kissing and hugging her while saying this in hopes to see a movement in her, but nothing.
And while doing that Neela ma and a nurse tried pulling me away from her,
Mr. Khanna don't do that you might worsen the situation of your wife, she just had a brain surgery. Please control yourself sir. Please!
Neil, Avni bilkul theek hai wo kahi nahi ja rahi, please Neil sambhalo apne aap ko. Neil wo yahi ha, wo nahi jayegi tumhe shorkar. Neela ma yelled.
After a little trying, I turned around and hugged Neela ma tightly, pouring my heart out to her "Ma please aap Avni ko bolo na ki wo kahi mat, please ma usse bolo na ki wo apni aankhe khole, ma aap bolo na usse ki wo mujhe itni bari punishment mat dene, I am sorry that I couldn't be there, please ma wo aapki har boat maanti hai." I cried my heart out to her.
"Woh zaroor uthe gi Neil, mera dil kheta hai ki meri bacchi zaroor jaag jaye gi," Neela ma said while wiping my tears away.
