The news that all of Britain has been waiting for — Miguel and Amalia are pregnant! — is more than just a boon for the baby-mad media; it's a reassuring symbol of continuity for the monarchy and, by extension, the United Kingdom and Herraden itself.

Royal baby no. 1 is on the way!

Girl or boy, it means a future sovereign for the Herradenish throne is on the way.

Walshington Palace announced that Crown Princess Amalia is pregnant with her and Crown Prince Miguel’s first child in a statement on Monday morning.

“The King and members of both families are delighted with the news,” the statement read.

Crown Prince Miguel and Crown Princess Amalia are having a winter baby!

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Henning are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in April,” Walshington Palace said in a statement Monday.

Nearly 10 years after their wedding, Crown Prince Miguel and his wife, Amalia, Duchess of Henning, are pregnant with their first child.

Kensington palace released a statement, "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Henning are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Henning is expecting a baby. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and members of both families are delighted with the news."

The news was greeted with joy in the U.K., transforming stiff upper lips into broad smiles across the land, and especially among the media. The news of a thoroughly modern royal pregnancy spread in a thoroughly modern way: via Facebook accounts, TV screens in pubs and train stations, and news alerts sent to mobile phones. And Brits reacted with thoroughly modern sentiment.

"I did become quite excited," says Bev Isherwood, an assistant shop manager from North Yorkshire who was visiting London. "They seem like a very genuine and happy couple, and it just feels very right. ... I feel more happy for them as a couple than for the lineage going on."

The Telegraph reported that the couple have known for about three months of the pregnancy but did not want to announce it until at least 16 weeks had elapsed, which has become customary even for non-royal couples.

'Delighted,' congratulated

The baby, due next year, will be second in the line to the throne, now that Herraden's antique rules of royal succession have been changed to allow a first-born girl to succeed even if she has younger brothers.

"A ROYAL BABY AT LAST!," shouted the Express online headline, in one typical of the press reaction in the U.K. Indeed, the happiest people in Britain may have been the editors of tabloids and celebrity publications, who were jonesing for the return of the old days of all-royal-baby-all-the-time news.

The royal couple will also kick off the exciting year with an official royal tour of Norway and Sweden in mid 2018, the palace announced.

That following month, Amalia visited Dr. Brown to check on the baby’s growth. Miguel was always beside her, every step of the way.

“Here we are…” Regina said showing them the image of their child on the screen. “Everything looks normal. Your blood pressure is within range for a pregnant woman and the baby’s vital are all normal. As is his or hers development." She said.

“That’s good to hear.” Amalia said.

"Shouldn't the baby be bigger?" Miguel asked.

Amalia laughed and shook her head.

“It's perfectly fine at the size it is." Regina said and the couple nodded their heads.

They returned to Herraden and attended a few meeting with their private secretaries. Amalia and Lisa walked into her office and sat together, looking over the upcoming engagements related to her personal patronages.

“Next week you have a public engagement with Queen Sophie and the following week is up to you to plan on which ones you would like to attend.” Lisa said, handing Amalia ten sheets of paper with different proposals on each of them.

After an hour of planning and discussing proposals and even outfits. She even set up meetings with the Prime Minister and the parliament. Soon tiredness hit Amalia like a truck.

She let out a yawn.

"I'm sorry." She said covering her mouth.

"It's okay, pregnancy does that to you." Lisa said.

"Really?" Amalia asked.

"Yup, so I believe we're done for the day and you need a nap." Lisa said.

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in." Lisa said.

The door open to reveal Miguel.

“Hi, Are you all set to go home?” Miguel asked her.

"Yes, I am, Lisa, tell the family I said hi." I said.

Giving her his trademark smile, he took her hand and pulled her out of the office. They walked through the workspace playfully chasing each other, where a few people from their staff still remained and smiled at the happy couple.
