Which Starter Do You Choose?
The Arrival of the Rival!

It was the next morning.
"Well I'm off" Ash announced. It was the next morning.
"You can't just leave" Lillie said.
"Yeah. You need to get an Alolan starter Pokémon!" Prof. Kukui said.
Ash thought for a minute. "Yeah I guess I could have a new Pokémon."
"All right" the professor said. "Let's go down to the lab then!"
Ash and Lillie followed Kukui to his lab in the huge basement. They walked to the back of the basement where there were three Pokeballs.
"These are the starter choices: Litten." Kukui popped out the fire type Litten. It looked at Ash and nodded showing respect.
"Next is Popplio." Then he popped out the water type Popplio. It was very energetic bouncing around and blowing bubbles.
"Finally is Rowlet!" Finally, Kukui popped out the grass/flying type Rowlet. Unlike the other two starters, the Pokemon felt weepy and tired. Most of all, it looked,
Depressed.
Knowing something was wrong Ash asked: "Kukui. What's up with this Rowlet?"
Kukui sighed. "Well I didn't get this Rowlet like the other starters. I found it in the trash eating a rotten berry and bawling. The berry Rowlet was eating was clearly poisoning him but it looked like it had no other choice of food. It's wing was broken and it couldn't fly correctly at all. It was probably abandoned, so I took it in and cared for it. So far no one has choose this starter because of it's condition."
Ash looked at the Rowlet which was looking back at him.
"I get it." Ash said. "I get what Rowlet's gone through."
Kukui and Lillie were surprised by this response.
"You see, my father abandoned my mom when she revealed she was pregnant with me. She had to take care of me all alone. She was only about 17 years of age. She was taking care of me but no one was there to take care of her! For a long time, my mom told me he was just on a journey, but when I had my thirteenth birthday, she filled me in on everything. He couldn't handle being a father even though he got my young mother pregnant!"
Ash slammed his fist on the wall. He started to cry.
"So he ditched her! He ditched US!" Ash yelled.
After that the humans and Pokemon got quiet.
Not knowing what to do, Lillie hugged Ash to comfort him.
