To say you're scared is an understatement. Your parents never come unannounced so they must really have something to get off their chest and you can sense that this is going to end ugly. Tom walks up to you and wraps you into his arms, in a tight embrace. 'It's going to be ok, love. What is the worst that could happen?' Easy for him to say. He's going to get a bomb dropped on him by your father and he's still unaware of it.
A few knocks on the door lets you wiggle out of Tom's embrace and you hesitantly open it. 'Hi.' You bluntly say, allowing them inside your apartment. They greet you, your mother even with a hug. You let them follow you inside the living room where they meet Tom and they politely shake his hand. So far so good. You force a smile on your lips as you offer them something to drink but they decline. 'Let's cut to the chase and get this over with.' You then say. Formalities are over and you need your parents to just say it. 'Alright. We're disappointed in you.' The tears are immediately burning in your eyes and you see how Tom raises his eyebrow at your father. There it is. The words they haven't said to you last time you saw them. It was just a matter of time before they would out this to you. 'Well, then. Are you happy you said this to me?' You ask but before they could react, you say more. 'You had to wait for it until Tom was with me and then spit it in my face. And why are you coming all the way over here just to tell me this? I've known this the second I told you guys the big news.' You add and try to stop yourself from crying but fail as a few tears are rolling down your cheek. Tom is uncomfortable, you can see that but it's far from the end. 'That is not just why we came here, sweetie.' Your mom tries but it's not working. 'Drop the act, mom. You came to talk? Let's talk. But I'm done hearing accusations and I'm done with the pointing fingers.'
You reach for Tom's hand and pull him closer to you, squeezing his hand tightly because of your nerves and fear. You know this is not going to stop them from accusing you. Maybe your mother but not your father.'No. I'm not done. I need to get this off my chest, honey. It's not with the intention to upset you but to let you see reality.' You snort a laughter and can't believe what you're hearing. 'Face reality? Dad, this is reality. I'm pregnant and I've come to terms with that. I'm keeping this kid whether you like it or not.' Your father sighs and shakes his head. 'I get it and understand that but look at yourself now. How long have you known this man? This is doomed, {y/n}!' They still have no clue who he is and how much you've talked about him when you were younger and you know that doesn't add up to how long you've personally known him but it would have been great to see that your folks remembered that and recognized him. 'I've known him for a little more than six months but that's not the point here now, dad! There is no going back and I don't want to go back! I love him and I know that he loves me too and we're going to be just fine with the baby!' Tom's hand lets go of yours to then place it on your back and softly rubs it to soothe you. Although it's working, you still feel a raging anger towards your parents. Especially your father.
'Only six months? And now that we're on him. No offence, Tom but how old are you? You seem a little too old for my daughter and for you to knock her up like that.' That is it. 'Does his age really matter? I'm an adult and I can take care of myself! Now please leave before I truly explode in anger!' You point at the door as you tell them to leave through gritted teeth. 'Honey, please.' Your mother tries again but you shake your head. 'No, mom! Just don't! You come to my home just to insult me and my boyfriend! Get out and you can come back when you're ready to apologize.' With a little resistance, your parents leave. You slam the door shut and come back to Tom now fully sobbing. 'I'm so sorry! I wish you hadn't witnessed that.' He hushes you and once again, takes you into his arms. You cry on his shoulder while tightly clamping onto him. 'It's fine. Really. It was really rude what your parents did and you handled it great!'
When you've calmed down a bit, he guides you towards the bedroom. You watch his steps intently as he fetches everything for you to change for bed. 'I know I'm older. Your father is perhaps right that I'm a little bit too old for you but I love you and I can't let you go. And even though I'm not perfect, I'm trying to be. For you.' A soft smile grows on your lips as you wipe some of your dried tears from your cheek. 'Don't say that, boo. You're perfect to me.' It's the first time you call him with a petname and he smiles as he hears it. 'Let's go to bed, shall we?' He presses a kiss on your lips as he helps you out of your clothes and even in your pyjamas.
You get under the sheets with him following right behind. You snuggle close against him and feel how he puts his arm around you. 'Goodnight, darling. Just forget about this nasty situation for now, ok?' He whispers while pressing a kiss on your head. 'I'll try.' It leaves your lips softly before you drift off to sleep. All this stress is exhausing and you doubt that this is good for the baby. Perhaps it's wise to avoid your parents for now.
