2. [Heart on your sleeve : Joey]

It was a cold day in Boston but for some reason, the rest of the guys wanted to go to the beach to which you found odd as it was freezing outside. You were awoken by the sound of the house phone ringing, you were sure it was one of them notifying you that they were almost there to pick you up. Walking downstairs to your kitchen, the aroma of coffee filled the air. Nobody was home, everybody must've gone out earlier than usual due to traffic and the gloomy weather. "Hello?" you answered as you reached for a mug in the wooden top cabinet of the kitchen. "Hey y/n. Are you almost ready? were going to go pick you up right now" said Donnie on the other end. "Yeah, I'm just going to finish my coffee, I'm already dressed" you respond as you reach for glass pitcher and pour the hot beverage into your mug. "Okay then, we'll be there in about 15 minutes," he tells you and you assure him that you'd be ready by then. You decided on wearing a mustard-colored hoodie and light blue jeans along with good old-fashioned Adidas. Your hair was recently showered, therefore, you towel dried it to avoid your chances of getting sick from the cold air that was going to eventually embrace your body as a whole once stepping out of the warmth of your home. 15 minutes and just as Donnie said, the guys were already parked in your driveway with Danny behind the wheel. " Hey y/n " Jonathan greeted as he stepped out of the car and hugged you. "Hi," you say and smile as well as wave at the rest of the guys who were all dressed comfortably for the day. He beckoned for you to follow him to the back seat where you assumed you were going to sit. You nearly tumbled over as baby blue eyes met your gaze once you climbed into the vehicle. It was Joey, your long-term crush. "I hope you don't mind sitting next to me," he says and grins making those heaven filled eyes gleam even more despite how gloomy the weather was. His hair seemed like it was just recently showered and his curls were now drying making them seem silkier than they actually are. "No not at all Joey" you say and shyly smile. Jonathan and well everybody else knew that you had a crush on him, but they gave you their word that not a peep will come out of their mouth for as long as you wanted them to keep quiet. All, mainly Jonathan assured you that it would be a good idea to tell Joey but you've always had an irrational fear of cruel rejection and well you didn't want to make things weird.

Alright, is everybody secured?" Danny asks and you all assure him that you guys are safe and buckled. The drive to the beach was roughly 30 minutes to an hour as traffic was really bad due to the weather conditions. Meaning that you had about an hour to keep yourself calm while sitting next to the radiant boy seated on your left. You swore that everytime his arm would lightly brush against yours, you could feel your heart practically leap out of its chest. The aroma of peppermint filled your nostrils as Joey chewed making it hard for you to compose yourself. Jonathan would try to distract you by making casual talk. "I'm gonna go get coffee, does anybody want some?" Danny says as he parks in a small parking lot where a small coffee shop is located. "I do"chimed in Jordan, Donnie, and Jonathan as they unbuckled their seat belts. You gave Jonathan a "Help me" look to which he softly smiled. "I think I want a hot chocolate, but is it necessary that I go with you guys?" Joey says to Danny. " No it's ok, Y/n are you coming or what do want?" Jordan asks you. " A hot chocolate please" You responded but before you could answer the second part, the doors of the car were all shut and now you were all alone with Joey Mcintyre. Everything inside was now brimming butterflies. You hoped that Joey wouldn't try making small talk but it was Joey and there was not much that could be done but sit in the car to wait for the rest of the guys. "So how was your day yesterday?" he asks making you jump a little as he turns to face you. Baby blue eyes practically hypnotizing you as you were trying to find the words to speak. "Good how about yours?" you respond trying to keep a nonchalant expression on your face. "Was nice, although this weather is too cold but at the same time it's nice" he says and then afterward begins to blow a bubble with his gum. "Yeah, it is" you say awkwardly and then mentally facepalming yourself. "Are you excited for the beach?" he asks you and you nod. "Although, I don't understand why we're going when it's freezing outside," you say to him. " We don't have to get in the ocean, we can just relax on the sand and make a campfire while roasting marshmallows. You know have a good time" he explains and then gives you a teeth-filled grin making you slightly blush.

Within no time, the rest of the guys were back in the car and you mentally sighed in relief as soon as you felt Jonathan take the seat next to you. He smiled and handed you your requested beverage and then handed Joey his. As soon as you guys reached the beach, it was nearly empty. An old couple walked their two dogs near the shore while another person was just jogging. A campfire was built and in no time you and the rest of the guys huddled around it as well as roasted marshmallows. Jordan and Jonathan shared one blanket, while Donnie and Danny had their own. You were not informed to bring one so Joey offered that you'd sit with him to avoid getting your clothes all covered in sand. Every so often you would notice Donnie and Danny smirk when Joey would look at you because they knew what effect his dreamy baby blue eyes had on you. The feeling was almost overwhelming as everybody knew that you liked him that you too were almost sure that so did Joey himself. Making casual talk with Jonathan and Jordan you didn't even notice that it was getting colder. And just Donnie didn't tell you to bring a blanket to sit down on, he didn't tell you to bring one for the later weather conditions.You began to rub your arms trying to keep yourself warm but it didn't work. "Are you cold?" asked Joey and you slightly nodded. He pulled out a dark blue blanket from his duffle bag and placed it over your shoulders as well as over his own. The blanket was not closing in the middle if you know what I mean. " Looks like we're gonna have to snuggle close to keep warm," he tells you as your eyes slightly widened but you were thankful that it was almost nighttime so he couldn't have noticed. You nodded and felt like you could fly when his warm arms wrapped around your waist. Donnie and Danny, as well as the Knight brothers all, had huge grins on their faces. Joey had now pulled you in close enough that you could basically lie your head on his chest if you wanted to. The rest of the hour consisted of talks about the upcoming tour, new songs, and the fans. The air seemed to be getting colder and colder with every 10 minutes or so. This meant that it was almost time to leave the beach. "Guys, I think it's time to go, it's getting way too cold now," Danny said and everybody else including you agreed. Jordan and Jonathan were helping Donnie and Danny pack up their things while you offered to help but they assured you that they got it.

Everybody was in a rush to leave except Joey who was helping you fold his blanket. "Y/n?" he said you both finished. "Yeah?" you say as you place it in his duffle bag. "Can I talk to you?" he responds and you nod. "What's up?" you ask not really paying enough attention to what he's about to say. "Can you please look at me?" he suggests and you oblige. His height slightly towering over you as you wait for him to continue. His eyes seemed to be getting softer and at the same time, the blue in them intensified as they were fixated on your (e/c) ones.

And now it appeared that he was leaning in to kiss you!? You were in an astonished state as you anticipated the moment that his lips would touch yours. As soon as they did it was better than you had ever imagined it. It was soft and plump and with the taste of hot chocolate as well as marshmallow. It was like a s'more flavored kissed which went even better with the cold weather and the starry night sky. When he pulled back you were still in awe as your eyes had been closed for a little longer than his own. A small chuckle erupted from him. "What was that for?" you say as you try to compose your breathing and he smiles amused at your reaction. "That was a response to let you know.," he says and pauses. "That the feeling is mutual" he finishes. "What do you mean?" you question him. " I purposely told Donnie and rest of the guys to not inform you about bringing a blanket" he admits and you give him a perplexed look. "And well the lovely car company while stopping by the coffee shop was just pure luck" he continues and you could feel your cheeks slightly get hotter. " Did any of the guys tell you?" you ask him. He shakes his head no. "I could actually tell, you sort of wear your heart on your sleeve," he tells you to which you look down and he tilts your chin up with his index finger. "I'm glad you do though because then I wouldn't have been able to do this," he says and then pulls you in for another sweet flavored kiss.
