As a 'young' writer, ( I have been writing in wattpad since 2012, however I have learned through the process of trial and error. Along with looking back and reading tips as well )
So, there are words in a story where it just typically gets repetitive because there's no other way to put it out there, like: said. Maybe even laughed. The words: however, then, suddenly.
There are many words out there waiting to be used in your story! So, I go to a thesaurus: thesaurus.com
I type in the word that I want to use, and then there pops up the possible synonyms / words that I can use along with the definition above it.
Literally everytime I write I switch from wattpad to Thesaurus.com every single time I need a new word.
Like instead of however, I use Ad interim, sometimes. Instead of laughed, I use chortle, snicker, etc. Instead of smile, I say 'he tugged to his lips' or grin or smirk.
