You woke up in the middle if the night. You looked over to see Bucky sleeping peacefully beside you. You smiled, and got up to use the washroom. While you did your business, you heard talking from the bedroom. Two people, one was definitely Bucky, the other, you weren't sure about. But it didn't matter. You could hear that Bucky seemed to be distressed. You finished up quickly and ran back into the room to catch a glimpse of someone jumping out the open window. Bucky sat on the bed, straight and staring at the floor. You carefully went to close the window and then spoke to him.

"Bucky?" you asked, worriedly. He didn't answer. "Bucky, what happened? Who was that?" He still didn't answer. He didn't even react your presence. You slowly moved closer to him, holding your arms out. He suddenly jumped up and grabbed the gun that he keeps on the bookshelf. He insisted he had one to keep you safe, but now it was doing the opposite. He pointed it at you. You stumbled backwards and yelped. "Bucky! No! Stop!" you cried. "It's me! (Y/n)! Your girlfriend! Who loves you! Please!"

"You are my mission," he whispered loud enough for you to hear, before shooting you in the stomach twice. You fell to the floor, gasping for breath and crying in pain. Your breathing was choked and ragged and hurt you with every breath. Bucky began to get changed into jeans and a tee shirt, like he was going to run away. Your vision began to fade as he looked at you. You saw something in his eyes change, then you blacked out.

His POV

I looked down at her and I remembered who she was. (Y/n). My girlfriend. My baby. My love. Dying. She lay in a pool of blood that was soaking into the carpet. I gasped and fell down beside her, realising what had happened. I had shot her. He made me shoot her. I called S.H.I.E.L.D knowing that an ambulance and a hospital would ask to many questions, then held her close. She was still breathing, which relieved me. Maybe she would be okay.

Her POV

You woke up and saw Bucky. You could tell by his touch and the look in his eyes that he was back to normal. He was holding you close against his chest as he sat in his knees on the floor. The pain in your stomach was so intense that you cried out again. He looked down at you, sadness in his eyes.

"I'm so sorry, doll," he began.

"Shh," you whispered. "Don't be sorry, alright? It'll all work out, I promise. None of this is your fault."

S.H.I.E.L.D showed up a couple minutes later and helped you into a stretcher and into a van that would take you to HQ for medical treatment.
