Gilded Pain

You never know what's under the surface.
Iron skin of thorns and briars,
But inside something else transpires.

You may see anger and reckless rage,
But inside, sadness, fear, and pain take the stage.

I know it hurts and you may be dying,
But they also may be tired of trying.

The weight of the world is on their shoulders,
You yourselves are also shareholders.

The pain you carry can overlap,
You're not the only one under attack.

The aggression you see is a result of pain.
The crimson you see is more than a stain.
Their heart is bleeding they're losing the fight.
The pain still seething,
And gets worse each night.

In the end they need someone,
And I know you do too,
But in the end, you must be the one,
In the end, it must start with you.

If you wait for others to make a move first,
The only outcome is it getting worse

It won't get better and you could lose your friend,
Because you never tried in the end.

I know it's painful, and I know it's hard.
But the time is now, for you to start.

Set your pain aside and forget about yourself.
Because there are others that also need help.
Take care of them first, then tend to yourself.
And you'll find that they want to help.

Everyone's broken,
Some more than others.
But we must hold them up, like sisters and brothers.
