Her savior nearly came too late

A paper blown into her cave

Landing in the pools of bloody tears

The princess read its words and paused

She read them again and again

And every time she read them, she spoke the words aloud

Another paper fell in her lap

And paper upon paper covered her skin

Until the tears were all cried and the blood was all dried

She read the words again and again and she felt a spark

Not a fire

Nor a flame

Barely a whisper

But enough

That the princess decided

"I can live one more day."
