The woman frowned at the pale girl lying unconscious on her couch.
Pumpkin, her dog that she had been refueling with soul energy, was sitting on top of the small vampire and taking a nap.
She sighed, she should have known that opening a portal into the spirit world, safely or not, would have brought the alchemist over.
When Steven had called her a few months ago about finding her the perfect 'lab thingy' she had been ecstatic. And then when he had told her that her only neighbor was this, and I quote: "Really sweet but also rude angry little slice of pie and was also an alchemist who happened to be a vampire!" she was slightly less ecstatic. But still agreed to give it a chance.
You see, witches and alchemists never really got along. Alchemists were basically witches who were 'duds' or in nicer terms, disabled.
They couldn't use magic, but could still see the paranormal. So to make up for their lack of magic, they used science to replicate it.
And as the number of alchemists grew, so did the tension between the two groups. And three hundred years ago it reached its peak, the 'Great Magic War'.
The war was devastating for both parties, and they completely broke ties. Witches could only go into certain cities that were witch controlled and vice-versa.
But the two were finally trying to reconnect, and most cities were friendly to both groups now.
But some of the old traditions still stand, and the groups still have a long way to go before they see eye to eye.
Suddenly, the vampire bolted up, knocking Pumpkin to the floor. She looked around frantically, before her eyes landed on Lapis.
"YOU!!" She screamed while trying to quickly get up, resulting in her not so graceful face plant on the floor.
Somehow, her glasses had not broken, two large, green tinted spheres that took up a good portion of her face.
The blue haired witch laughed and snorted as the alchemist muttered some colorful words, and the humor it was giving Lapis only made the embarrassed flush on her cheeks grow.
"You need some help there?" The bluenette teased.
"No thanks, I'm fine." The blonde said through gritted teeth, standing while brushing off her lab coat.
Once she had composed herself and Lapis had settled down, they simply stared at each other, taking in the other woman's appearance.
The blonde alchemist was short, about five three if the latino had to guess, making Lapis a full full four inches taller.
She had pale skin, although not the palest for a vampire. And she had a few dark freckles on her neck, right by her bite from the looks of it. 'Convenient.' The witch mused.
Her short blonde hair was cut into a shape reminiscent of a triangle, it was no wonder why Steven referred to her as a 'slice of pie.'
Her skin looked relatively smooth, except for a triangle shaped scar on her forehead.
Done with her assessment, Lapis held out her hand.
"Hey," She paused, waiting to see the blonde's reaction, the vampire simply stared at her outstretched hand. "The name's Lapis, Lapis Lazuli."
The blonde didn't move for a moment before clearing her throat and hesitantly shaking her hand. "Peridot."
Breaking up the handshake, the two went back to staring at each other, and the awkwardness hung over them like a thick, wet blanket.
And Pumpkin, being the saint she is, even in the undead, proceeded to rip that blanket off by pouncing on Peridot, knocking her down with a yell of surprise and protest from the small alchemist.
Blinking a few times, Lapis' brain finally processed the situation and said,
"And that's Pumpkin."

"And then she just left!" A few hours had passed, and Lapis was currently at The Crystal Club, explaining her predicament with the only friends she had, Steven and the Crystal Gems.
"That's P-dot for ya! Always poofing back to her lab cave." Amethyst inputted from her seat on the bar counter. "She like, never leaves!"
"That's not true!" Steven countered, "She leaves sometimes!"
The two then argued back and forth, until Pearl tried to break it up with, "That's enough! This is not the proper way to act in the presence of a guest!"
That then led into an argument over what was really the proper way to act in front of a guest, which Steven quickly dropped out of.
And Lapis just sat there awkwardly, not feeling like she belonged, not an uncommon emotion when she was with the Crystal Gems.
So there she sat, until Garnet, the savior she is, brought Lapis over to a table away from the arguing, Steven now trying to stop the fighting.
Garnet stared at Lapis through her shades as the witch sat down. And Lapis had the feeling a child would get when being scolded by a parent. Though Garnet was not here to scold her.
"So," The tall woman started, "I suggest talking to her."
"What?" Lapis blinked in confusion.
"Peridot."
"Oh."
The 'square mom' hummed, "I have a feeling that if you just talk to her, you might actually find you have a lot in common." She didn't elaborate, instead she just walked away, and broke up the fight between Pearl and Amethyst. She always seemed to know things nobody else did, but what else was to be expected of a psychic?
Lapis just sat there, wondering what just happened. Sighing, the bluenette got up and opened a portal to take her back to her home.
It seems she had a encounter to prepare for.

Hey my dudes! A chapter the day after one was posted? You must be thinking that I have no life, which would be accurate.
But all jokes aside, I hope you enjoyed! I bet you weren't expecting a POV switch now were you? *laughs evilly* But I figured it would be more fun to switch things up a bit. But I do plan to make most of the chapters in Peridot's POV.
Anyway, don't forget to comment your favorite part! My favorite Comment will be posted at the top of the next chapter!
Until next time, bye!
