8 DAYS LEFT

AIDEN POV

I had been at work for a few hours and Jack and I had planned to go to the cafe for lunch to see Jenna as usual but then Loren showed up out of the blue.

Telling Jack to let Jenna know that I was sorry for not coming to see her, he left. I'd text her later.

Loren had been busting my balls since about telling Jenna the truth. But what good would that do now? It meant nothing anymore.

I was no longer just doing it for that reason, now it was because I wanted Jenna.

"Do you really think she'll still go through with this, if she knew you lied to her?" Loren asked, looking disappointed.

"I didn't lie, Loren. I just didn't tell her the whole story."

"That's still lying, Aiden."

"Okay, so you want me to just go up to Jenna and say 'hey, the reason I need you to marry me by the end of the month is because my dad forced me to so that I can inherit his company' and hope she is still going to roll with it?"

Of course she wouldn't! Jenna is the most stubborn woman I know and if I told her, she wouldn't give me time to explain.

"Aiden, as your sister I'm trying to look out for both you and her. She deserves to know the truth. Tell her, or I will." She walked out, slamming the door for good measure.

After Loren had gone, I text Jenna to say sorry for not being able to come to the cafe but there was no answer. Was she mad at me? I tried calling but again no answer.

I decided to let it go, give her some space and talk to her when I get home but when I arrived back, the house was silent. Empty.

She couldn't be this mad over me not showing up, right?

Jack's caller ID popped up.

"Hey, how did it go with Jenna?" he asked, confusing me.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't play dumb. How was her surprise trip to your office?"

"I honestly have no idea what you're talking about Jack. When did she come to the office?"

"At lunch. She wanted to see you so she followed me back and then went up to your office."

Oh damn. Not good.

"Jack, I gotta go. I'll call you later."

Hanging up, I tried calling her again and after more no answering, I got in my car and drove to the cafe. I knew they were almost about to close but when I got there, Ms. Peterson told me she hadn't come back from seeing me.

I tried to call Freya but she hadn't heard from Jenna today. So that left Allie and Jace.

Allie's sleepy voice came through on the third ring.

Checking the time, I realised it was quite late.

"Allie, I'm sorry to call so late. Do you know where Jenna is?"

I heard shuffling in the background, the sound of a slap and Allie telling someone to shut up.

"Um, no. I haven't heard from her recently. Is everything okay?"

There was the sound of another slap and then there was a thud. I heard Jace groan through the phone as I answered.

"I just need to find her. Do you have any idea where she could be?"
