hazel pulled the sleeves of her best friend luke's old grey hoodie down, covering her hands. god, was it cold today. a good day to run away.

"luke, hurry up please. it's freezing," hazel whined, whilst luke continued to mess with his hair. "haze, you know this kind of hair takes time. don't rush perfection," he called back to the impatient 16 year old.

finally, he opened the door and walked into the hallway, his new vans making clunky noises on the shiny hardwood floor. and with that, hazel and luke exited her parent's flat, leaving behind the smell of too much hairspray, and their friendship,

because today, everything was about to change.
