it only takes a week for calum to text him, it's s simple 'hey' but ashton gets excited at the facct that maybe, they'll be able to regain their closeness at some point.

they text all day and it carries on for the rest of the week, their texts consisting of mainly small talk and school.

on friday afternoon, calum notifies ashton that he's going to a party that night, that he might not text back until saturday afternoon.

ashton agrees and hides his heavy heart behind smiley emojis and gentle banter.

he tells calum to be careful and leaves it at that, not wanting to seem over protective to quickly. he ignores the urge to ask for the venue of the party and instead puts his phone on charge, attempting to finish his book, and managing.

he falls asleep after that without touching his phone and waking up feeling accomplished.
